The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

I wasn't sure if I'd be able to do any heavy work tonight. I felt kinda weak warming up and I didn't know if we'd have enough people. We ended up with a good turnout, so I decided to go heavy off a 1-brd. I think for me I basically lose between 15-20 lbs for every board I take out. Hopefully this means I'm good for 370 or so full range right now. This will be my only bench session this week. I am going to my boy Spero's wedding on Thursday and will be plenty drunk! Tomorrow I'll squat and then I'll go in Saturday for some deads. Next week I'd like to hit some heavy bands on bench.

Tomorrow I plan to squat heavy straight weight in my Ace briefs and T-rex. I have never attempted more than 555 in that combo, so we shall see how it goes. I hope to go up to 600 and if that goes well, something like 650. As long as my back feels good.

LOL @ pec dec. But you do make a good point about filling out the shirt. That's the only reason I do db flys anyway, but pec dec.... comon man.

Very nice 1-board Chris, getting very close to those 4pps! Dips are looking crazy, too.

Thanks peeps. I'm very happy with my bench strength leading into this meet. It's definitely the best it's ever been.

    6/5
    Heavy squat

(Warmed up on parallel box Raw)

    2@145x3
    1@235x2
    1@235x1

    (Add Ace briefs/no box)

    1@325x1

    Add T-rex/straps up all sets)

    1@415x1
    1@505x1(Added belt)
    1@545x1
    1@600x1(self knee wrap)
    1@635x1(straps cranked/Spero gangsta knee wrap)
    1@665x1(same deal...came up strong)

    Chins(wide overhand)

    1@BWx5
    1@+25x5
    1@+45x5
    1@BWx12(neutral-wide grip)

    Abs- 2 sets(totally shot)

Some sick stuff tonight. I wasn't sure if the gear combo would work because everything felt real heavy out of the rack. Also, my back was not feeling too good, so that may have made things feel heavier than normal. Luckily, Bernor and Spero cranked the hell out of my straps(which I can't do in the canvas) and it worked. Although I really couldn't breathe and nearly blacked out on the last set, I somehow managed to squeeze down there and come up strong. This is over 100 lbs more than I have ever squatted in poly and it wasn't max effort.

I now know I can use this combo for the meet. I will, however, in true moron tradition, try yet another gear combo next week. I want to try my denim briefs under the T-rex. My reasoning is that the denim briefs give me much more support in the mid-section and I'm hoping combined with the poly suit I'll get the pop to go with the support. I know if it feels like crap I can always just stick with the poly/poly combo.

Technically I'd have to say the 665 is a PR. The highest I ever attempted straight weight on the squat is 680 or 685, but I clearly cut that one high. This one had better depth and came up strong. Things are really coming together as the meet approaches, so hopefully I won't suck this time around.

I don't think you'll have much to worry about for your meet... clearly youve been putting in the work. I'd love to see you hit ~700 in your meet... that would be really special man.
