The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Awesome job on the squats and declines. I love decline benching. I think that has definitely helped my flat bench so much. I do pretty much the same thing going from high reps like that to low reps over 8-12 weeks or so, except I only do one bench day instead of two each week.

Cuda extensions off plate loaded lat pull- 2 sets

    Light rear delts- 3 sets

Pushups- 1 set of 35-40 reps

Good session tonight. The first set of 315 off the boards was all over the place. The set with 335 I had my buddy Andrew(AKA Cuda/note the extensions) wrap my wrists crazy tight and it helped a lot. I controlled 335 for 6 better than 315. This is the first week of my 3 week rotation.

    Week 1- Volume reps off a 2-board
    Week 2- Full range singles
Week 3- Heavy band tension off boards(1-3 reps)

After that I will either start over or have a deload week. This time around I will be in Vegas the 4th workout, so it should be a deload of some sort(we'll see what kind of gym I train at).

Nice benching chris. Floor press with bands looks intense.

Why the full range stuff in the middle as opposed to the start or end?

Well, it will split up the partials and the heavy band tenson is gonna kill me. I will most likely need to deload the 4th week.

Awesome boards Chris. When you wrap your wrists, it helps with controlling the bar? Then that would mean you could probably press a little more weight with them on right?

I'm gonna get some, but only because holding up 315+ lbs makes my girly little wrists feel like they're gonna snap, haha. So if it helps me get up more weight that would be a bonus.

Whoa... nice shirted two boards CR!

Might be a dumb question but have you ever done board presses RAW? If so whats your best 2bd and 3bd. Trying to figure out where I need to get to reasonably press 330 in a shirt.

Very nice benching! What's the purpose of doing boards in a shirt though? I don't have much experience with equiped lifting....

Fury- I used to do them all the time raw, but I haven't in a while. When I do them raw now, I do the Mccaslin or Asylum boards. Basically a lower weight and you do 3-boards right in a row...typically 5 reps per board and you start at the 2 or 3 board and go up. You really never know what you can do in a shirt, until you do it in a shirt.

I personally do boards in a shirt to get used to handling big weights. I can do much more with the shirt on, so that enables me to overload the top end and get used to unracking and pressing bigger weights.

I hurt my shoulder pretty bad back in February by doing heavy boards in the shirt. My shoulder supportive tissue was not used to holding 300+ and thus it slipped out. So my goal is to get my shoulders up to snuff way ahead of time, so that what I my shoulders can support and what I can 2-3 board in the shirt are not so far apart.

Anyways, thanks for the response. Can't wait to get back in my shirt!!

Nice benching man. Sexy 2 boards and I think your spot on with the shirted 2 board logic. I think I could bench much more in a shirt then I could raw, meh who knows?

I felt like crap before I got to the gym tonight. My hips are still beat up from the drop set squats, so I skipped box squats. I was also late and just felt shot. When I got out of my daze, I managed to get my speed sets in and then hammer my upper back. I haven't done shrugs in a while, I'll be feeling those for a few days. I attempted to do ghetto T-bar rows, but the handle was slipping all over and I got furious and just moved on. I think I'll go back to BB rows next week.

Tomorrow I rest, I need it.

Nice pullin' brother. I really wish I had the jump stretch platform. I can rig up virtually the same thing with the rubber mats and lot's of 45's, but it takes me roughly 25 minutes to set-up.

Check out Elitefts. They sell them. They are made by the same company who makes their bands. Basically you stand on it and attach the bands to it and then deadlift. 1 set of mini bands on that can add 200+ to the lockout!

Kaz Press(first time trying these)- 3 sets up to 1 plate for 10

    Pec deck- 2 sets

    Pushups- 1 set

    Curls- 4 sets

My traps are sooo friggin sore from Tuesday. I knew that would happen. I didn't think I'd get through the declines, but I managed to squeak out a PR. I haven't done incline dumbells with a decent weight in a while. They were hard. I did like the Kaz presses. They nailed my triceps and didn't bother my elbows like every other exercise does. They are staying. After that I did some sexah work. tuttut

Tomorrow we squat with some gangsta band tension. I love me some band tension.
