The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

You know how I roll on bench assistance day.

I did it last cycle and hit PR's all over. The last day I hit PRs with 285x1 and 225x10. So I'm on my way back up to try and beat those.

    Heavy squat

    Squat(Ace briefs)
(all sets done with one set of choked blue bands and one set of monster bands just looped/crazy-ass tension)

    1@145x1
    1@235x1(belt on)
    1@325x1
    1@415x1(wraps)
1@465xmiss(fell backward on the way up)

    Leg press(narrow)

    1@270x5
    1@360x5
    1@450x5
    1@450x10

    Leg ext- 3 sets

    Abs- 4 sets

Pretty sick night tonight. I really had no plan, so I was just gonna do whatever they put on the bar. Bands, chains, whatever. CT came up with an interesting method of rigging the bands. We put a blue band on with a normal choke. Those add roughly ~170 lbs at lockout for someone my height. Then we took the ginormous Monster bands and just looped them under the monolift and over the blue band(not choked). This meant the Monster band would deload completely(or close to it) at the bottom and add a bunch of tension out of nowhere near lockout. I have no clue what this added in total, but the bar was bending like a mofo, even before we put plates on it. I really liked doing the bands in briefs. I used to always do them with a suit on over the briefs, but from now I will stick with briefs only and put knee wraps on for the top set(s). Then I just did some quad and ab work. I think I will try and do that each week and then do my hamstring/hip/glute assist on the box/dead day. We'll see if that works.

Looks like gangsta tension to me . Must've been crazy if you failed on the 465 attempt.

And I gotta question. Which briefs do you like better, the Aces or the DDs?
I see you using both all of the time.

I like them both. I actually feel awesome squatting in both at the same time(instead of a suit). Not sure how to make that legal for a comp though.

If I had to pick one though, I'd say the Ace.

From what I hear the ace briefs give a lot poundage wise. Do they stretch out?

The Ace briefs are amazing. I've used mine a lot, they definitely stretched out, but I can still get a ton out of them.

That squat session looks ridiculous! Leg press must have seemed light as hell after that band tension!

    Heavy bench

    Bench press

    1@095x3
    1@135x3
    1@185x1
    1@225x1

    (Add DD)

    1@275x1
    1@315x1(2-brd)
    1@345x1(1-brd)
1@365xmiss(no brds/shot back to the face)
1@375xno rep(told them to take it on the negative)

Decided to stop the heavy shirt stuff there because my wrist felt like it was gonna snap on the last attempt.

    Floor press

    1@135x3
    1@185x2
    1@225x3
    1@235x2(miss 3/PR double)
    1@210x5

Decline Kaz press(if that exists/Smith machine)- 4 sets

That was that. Kinda pissed that my wrists feels like such garbage on anything heavy. Somehow it doesn't bother me on the floor presses or really on anything under 3 plates or so. I think next Monday I'll skip the shirt work and do boards or something else. Hopefully between that and having to go raw when I'm away in Vegas, my wrist will come back to normal. If not it might be time to get it checked out. I really liked doing those tricep extensions on the decline. I'll definitely be using those.

Tomorrow I plan to pull heavy conventional, after box squat of course.

Yea. I had my buddy wrap the one that hurts more ultra-tight too, but it didn't help this time. Like I said, I'll have a few weeks of no crazy heavy stuff on bench and I'll see if it feels any better.

Tonight was sick!! I was definitely not feeling great. I was sweating my balls off doing the box squats and my back and hips weren't feeling too good. Deadlift warmups didn't feel great, but I knew if I wanted to break 500, my best chance was to jump straight to it from 4 plates. It worked out great. My best ever pull conventional in a belt was 475 and my best in a suit was 500. I was able to beat both. I really think I'd be good for ~550 in the suit now. I will definitely be trying to pull in the suit a few weeks after I get back from Vegas. Since I had to grind through the lockout a bit, my hamstrings were shot after that. I decided not to do any rep work for the deadlift and instead did some more heavy shrugs. I'll be feeling those for a few days again.

Tomorrow I rest and then I'll do some assistance work on Thursday.
