The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Thanks guys.

    10/1
    Heavy deadlift(supposed to be light)

    Deadlifts(sumo and conventional)

    2@135x3
    2@225x1
    4@315x1(Fusion/straps up/sumo only)
    2@405x1(sumo)
    1@405x1(conv)
    2@495x1(conv)

    Switch to Metal deadlifter

    1@405x1(conv)
    1@495x1(conv)

After this I messed around for a few hours. Did a bunch of horrible sets of cleans with 135 and 175. Then I pulled ultra-wide sumo deadlifts for absolutely no reason. Then I did what I like to call Magnussons, which is just a conventional deadlift where you run up to the bar and just grab it and pull with no setup. Up to 405 on that, lol. My back is real beat up and overtrained. I really should have went easy today, but I just don't know how to do that. I have 12 days to the meet. I will bench on Wednesday, but no shirt work. Friday I will just do some raw squats, not too heavy. Then I'll have a full week to rest for the meet. My planned openers are:

    515 sq
    285 be(no laughing)
    500 dl
    Best Meet Lifts(Raw w/wraps):

Thanks everyone. My back is still smoked, but not as sore as last week.

    10/3
    Heavy Bench

    1@185x1
    1@225x1

    1@80'sx4
    1@100'sx5(PR)
1@90'sx8(PR or match of last week)

    Dips

    1@BWx5
    1@+45x5
    2@+90x5

Plate loaded lat pull- 3 sets of 10

Seated cable rows- 3 sets of 10

    BB Curls- 3 sets

Felt pretty good today. My shoulders didn't bother me during the session, although they kinda feel like crap now(probably just shot). I kinda wanted to see where my raw bench was at since I plan to do a raw bench cycle after the meet. The 250 was pretty strong and 260 came up fast but I missed it about 2/3 of the way up. It's weird because all my bench assistance exercises are up, but my raw bench is basically the same. Hopefully the next training cycle will bring me up to 275+.

    Light raw squat

    Squats(raw)

    1@135x3
    1@185x2
    1@225x1
    2@275x1(belt)
    1@225x12-ish(no belt/felt easy/didn't count exact reps)

That was it. I just hung out with everyone after that and helped out where I could. Had a goal of keeping it light and easy and managed to do so for once. My raw squat feels better and better the more I do it. After the meet I should be putting up some decent numbers on them.

I'll probably be in the gym for a few days next week going very easy and light. I hate taking the full week off, so we'll see how I feel.

Yea, those were done in multi-ply gear. This is the first time I will compete in all single-ply gear in 5 years. The numbers will be a bit lower. I also don't open up with my maxes. Your openers should be a weight that you can hit any day of the week. Your all-out maxes can come on the later attempts.

SSA Full Power Meet @ Iron Asylum Gym

    BWT- 163.4

    SQ(Single ply Metal squatter)

515-miss(suit ripped up both legs in the hole)

    DL(Single ply Metal Deadlifter)

    500-good
    525-miss
525-miss(Switched to Inzer Fusion for this)

    Total- 1345

Not extremely happy with my total(I set a goal of 1400+ for myself), but considering how things went I was happy how I did. Coming in my squat and deadlift felt great and I only managed one of each. The first squat attempt was a complete waste since my suit ripped. If I had use the briefs from the start, I think I would have ended up with 565-575. The bench, which I wasn't expecting much from in the blast shirt, ended up going real well. 315 wasn't too easy, but I managed to get 65 lbs out of that piece of crap shirt. By the time deadlift rolled around my back was shot. My 500 opener didn't feel like an opener. I made a smaller jump than I had planned and could only get 525 to my knees twice. That is the first time I have ever pulled 500 in a meet conventional though.

I did manage to win Outstanding Lifter in the single-ply division and got an Atlarge Nutrition Gift certificate. So that was cool. I hit a large PR total for single-ply, but still not what I was shooting for. I may do it again, but for now it's back to:
