The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Thanks fellas

    Back assistance

Face pulls- 2 sets of 20

Plate loaded lat pull- 3 sets of 10

BB rows- 3 sets of 8

Seated cable rows- 3 sets of 10

    Kroc rows- 90x27(PR)

Quick easy session tonight. Not gonna be in the gym for the next two days, so I just wanted to do some assistance. Got to see some good deadlifting from my training partners.

Friday I plan to shirt bench and deadlift. I'll see how I feel.

nice squatting the other day Chris. Probably a good plan to take it easy if you're still feeling it from a couple days ago.

Thanks guys. I decided not to bench today, so I just did my other work.

    11/23
    SQ/DL

    SSB box squat(Raw/no belt)

    1@155x5
    1@205x3
    1@245x3
    1@295x3

    Conventional deadlifts(Raw/no belt)
(All sets done standing on a 3-board...5"+)

    1@135x3
    1@225x1
    1@315x1
    1@365x1
    1@405x1
    1@405x5(PR)

    Zerchers(Raw/no belt)
(all sets done walked/bar down to thighs)

    1@135x3
    1@225x3
    1@275x12

Face pulls- 2 sets of 12

I didn't feel like I was up for any big lifting tonight, but deadlifts actually felt real good and I hit a nice PR on those. The zerchers kicked my ass also and my hammy wasn't feeling too hot after that workset.

On Monday I plan to squat heavy in full gear. We'll see what happens.

PS- John Bernor squatted 1005 + blue(strong) bands choked tonight with straps down and no wraps. It was nasty.

Haha. The key is variety. I hit some really weird technical PR's by switching equipment and or variations of lifts. If I feel I don't have a PR in me on one lift, I switch it up.

Usually the most common training session for me that sucks is shirt bench. The least consistent of all my lifts.

Yeah, this is what makes me want to go back to the traditional westside template; I loved the max effort work, switching each exercise every week. I would hit the same one again in like 10 weeks. I might just do that.

    Heavy SQ/DL

    Squat(Single-ply Fusion briefs/Inzer Canvas)

    1@345x1
    1@435x1(straps up here out)
    1@525x1(belt on here out)
    1@575x1
    1@635x1(wraps on here out)
    1@705xmiss(buckled in the hole)
1@705xmiss(this one was on the way up and I started to fall forward)

    Sumo deadlifts(Raw/belt)

    1@225x1
    1@315x1
    1@405x1
    1@465x1
    1@515x1(10 lb Raw PR)

    Rows/pulldowns- 5 sets

My sleep/nutrition over the past 5 days has been total crap. I woke up today at only 161 lbs. I was almost gonna skip this session and go in tomorrow for it, but as the day went on I just really wanted to get to the gym and lift heavy stuff. I tried to open up the legs of my suit and it may have helped a tiny bit. The big difference is this week I used a thinner brief instead of the Metal Ace like last time. I kept the feeling in my legs this time, which seems to help when trying to squat. The best part is that the weights felt good on my back.

Then I pulled sumo in just a belt and hit a PR. The 515 was actually real strong and I think I had more in me. I have no idea what gear I should be using on the sumo because just pulling in a belt felt great. I'll have to try again in a suit and see how it goes.

    Thanks everyone.

Sid- last time I used the Ace briefs, but my legs went numb and tingly. This time they felt a bit better with the thinner briefs.

Fran- I didn't have my camera with me. Next time I get in the suit I want to take some video and see how it looks.

    705 lbs at 161lbs? You're a damned superhero.
Out of the night that covers me,Black as the Pit from pole to pole,I thank whatever gods may be for my unconquerable soul. In The fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance my head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears looms but the horror of the shade And yet the menace of the years finds, and shall find, me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate how charged with punishments the scroll,I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.

    Shirt bench

    Bench press(ring finger on rings)

    095x5
    135x3
    185x1

    *Add loose poly*

    225x1

    *switch to Inzer Phenom*

    275x1
    315x1
    345x1
    385xmiss(shot and sleeves too loose)

    Lockouts(Floor/same grip)

    225x5
    315x5
    365x3
    405x2

    DB floor press

    60'sx8
    75'sx8
    85'sx8(maybe a PR)

    Rotator/rear delts- 3 sets 15-20

I was pretty happy with my benching, even though I missed. My wrists and shoulders have been bothering me so much that I hadn't been in the shirt in a few weeks. Something is definitely strained badly in my rotator area. I had Chris" I know more about anatomy than a damn doctor" Taylor take a look and he said what it probably was, but I couldn't try to spell or pronounce it. He gave me a few movements to work on to help strengthen that and hopefully get me feeling better there. He also took my shirt home to pinch the sleeves, so hopefully I'll have it for next week. Luckily it only hurts a little when I squat and not at all when I deadlift. It hurts like hell to full-range raw bench though, so I'll be going easy on that for a while.

Pull thrus- 3 sets of 8-10

Another ass kicking session. My back is blowing up all over the place. I again had no real plan, so I just went with the flow. Next Saturday we are going over to Iron Island Gym and having some form of a meet/test day. We may actually get the meet sanctioned and have judges, or we will be using it as a test day to prepare for our next meet. I probably won't know the answer to that until late next week, so we'll see.

I plan to still squat Monday and try a different pair of briefs under the canvas. I won't go all out, but I would like to work up to something decent to see if the combo will be good. Hopefully somewhere between 550-600 and shut it down after that.
