    wooohh looking good chris. i dont know why your complaining about squats when you've got a deadlift like that . so what were you wearing when you squatted 705x2?

    That week I was wearing my Ace briefs underneath the looser canvas. I'm thinking that is a better combo for me.

    Felt pretty good tonight. On the last set of bench I got the 5th rep about an inch from lockout and decided to toss it back in the hooks just in case(no spotter). I bought a dip/chin belt since the gym doesn't have one. That is the first time I have tried to do weighted dips in a long time and I sucked. I was happy my shoulders allowed me to do them though.

    Tomorrow I plan to squat and pull against bands.

    Great training session with a great team! Everyone was really pushing it tonight and moving some big weights. A few of the guys had never used this kind of band tension before, but they jumped right in and did awesome. The biggest PR I can remember with two sets of blues was 405x1 in full gear. So I beat that number and I didn't even put the canvas on.

    Then I pulled and I absolutely destroyed my old PR. My best was a grinder with 365. This was a much smoother pull and 40 lbs heavier. I think our bands are crazy stretched out or something, but I'll take it.


    My buddy Dominguez took videos of the 415 band squat and 405 band pull. When he uploads them I will post them here.

    This training cycle I am having my main SQ/DL work being done on Tuesday nights. I will do assistance work on another day. Most of the time I have trained I have done some form of squatting and pulling together though.

    Felt suprisingly good today after yesterday's heavy band session. Not sure what the deal is with my raw bench right now.     My lockout felt like garbage in the shirt. I'm going to cut out the extra raw day that I had been doing for bench. I will now do my raw work on Monday and shirt work/top end on Thursday. I will be focusing a lot on my lockout, hopefully with some heavy board work and some bands. I have 6 weeks of training to address this, so it shouldn't be a problem.

    I went to do my raw bench stuff @ East End Barbell today since my gym was closed when I got off work(yea, I had to work). Before the gym, I went to a barbeque and played some wiffle ball. After that I took a bunch of caffeine+waxymaize and headed out to the gym. It felt good to get some handoffs for my raw stuff, so I worked up heavier than I would have alone. The floor presses were weird because I didn't add any weight to the bar, just chains. So it was pretty unstable and heavy at the top, but the bottom felt like nothing. I Just really wanted to do somethging for my triceps that I couldn't do alone at the other gym.


    Tomorrow is the fun day...gear squats+gear deadlifts.

    I gotta say that I didn't think today would go well at all. I felt like crap on the way to the gym. It was hot as hell in the gym and I was sweating like a bastard. I didn't have much volume in me, but the worksets I did went well. I experimented a bit with my straps on the canvas. The first set the straps were literally higher than my ears if I pulled them up. Very loose. WHen I do that, I can actually feel the bar on my back and keep it in place, but I don't get as much stopping power. Then I tried them crazy tight. That way, the bar rolls on me because I can't lock it in my back. I had way more stopping power, but less control. I have to find a happy medium or I may switch the straps to poly.


    My deadlift is still going great. I felt like my form wasn't as solid today as on the 475 from two weeks ago(my hips were rising a little too fast), but my lockout was still strong and smooth. Even the 4th rep was real smooth, I may have had a fifth in me. Grip felt great too.

    Tomorrow I will do some upper back and abs since I was too shot for that today.

    Somewhere in the middle of that, Bernor let me know that the meet I had planned on doing on October 18th is going to be a push/pull. I had checked the website and was certain it was a full meet, but sure enough we looked it up and it wasn't. So I made a last second decision to do the IPA meet that is next weekend. We then spent the next few hours arguing back and forth about whether I should go there or not.

    I am on vacation from work all week, so I have the ability to go down there on Friday and weigh-in. Then I can stay with my buddy Jim "the Bus Driver" Shaugnessy who has a house down there. I feel strong right now with the exception of my bench lockout. Either way I locked out 405 this week about the same speed I locked out 365 last week. We adjusted the shirt slightly different and it felt better.

    So most likely I will compete next weekend. I would like to open somewhere in the 615-360-505 range.
