    Gold's gym FTW. Much better atmosphere than my other gym. I have some friends who train there who I will be able to lift with sometimes. The bars are better, equipment is better, heavier dumbells. On Friday, I will show the meatheads how to deadlift as they bench and curl away, lol.

    Hope they don't yell at you for chalking it up. I know when I was at Gold's they got on to me. But yeah, db's up to 150s when I was there was teh sweetness.

    And I will be wearing my power panties. I get too much pain in my hip joints without them unless I'm narrow squatting.

    I used to sneak chalk in there the last time I trained there and as long as you are neat they never say anything.

    Totally felt like crap all day yesterday. Very sore and beat up feeling. That was the closest I have come in a while to taking off from the gym(aside from being very sick). I decided to go anyway and of course it didn't go real well. All the raw stuff is kinda beating me up. Being a gear whore really helps, lol. I only have 3 more weeks to finish the bench cycle, so I will finish it out. I will be adding in shirt work and I will also be resting the day before my heavy bench from now on so I can be fresh. I am still shooting for 285 by the end of the cycle, so hopefully yesterday was a fluke thing.


    Tonight I will do some deadlifts @ Gold's, nothing too crazy. Then I will rest over the weekend.

    That was all I needed. Deadlifts take care of everything. I spent the next 30 mins talking to a guy in his 40's who has trained @ that Gold's for years. I used to see him there when I trained there a few years ago. He knows some of my friends who train there and is one of the fewer guys there who squats/deadlifts regularly and trains for strength. Real good guy and he's pretty damn strong.

    You ever try banded deadlifts with the bands out in front? I tried setting up so I had 2 small bands doubled around the bottom/front of the power rack. I started with the bar sitting just far enough from the rack for the bands to be taught, then pulled. These were WAY too much tension, but I'm wondering if using minis instead would be beneficial to help with pushing hips through..

    I have tried plenty of weird things, but have not tried this. Where did you get this from and were they talking about doing it heavy or more of like a lighter/volume thing?

    I think I invented it myself, but I'm sure someone else has done it before haha. I just decided to try it to see if they would feel alright, but didn't have small enough bands. I would deffinatly only be doing them light haha

    Something in my inner thigh/groinage area has been acting up for the last week or so so I am not sure if I will squat heavy raw tomorrow. I will do some form of squatting and then do heavy block pulls.

    Went super Old skool on the squat today and actually squeezed into my first ever squat suit from 2002. It was an Inzer Champion, but I cut the straps off of it years ago to use it as briefs under my Hardcore. The material is so stretchy that I was able to squeeze into it, but I was surprised that the leg openings stayed put during my squats and didn't really ride up. Probably because they were digging an inch deep into my thigh, lol. I just tried this today because I may decide to do the East End Barbell meet in June in the SSA standard division...which basically allows the first generation type gear(Champion/Z-suit, blast shirt, etc.) I wouldn't really train much for it as I will be getting back into my gangsta squat gear in 2 weeks for my Nationals training cycle. If I think I can do like 1400-ish in the old skool gear I may give it a run.

    It's basically a partial deadlift, like a rack pull, but with the plates up on blocks it is more natural like pulling from the floor(the bar will flex the same). So the plates were 3.5" higher than normal.

    Felt totally shot today. I need to sleep more...like now! Totally slacking during the week on sleep. Somehow I managed to squeeze out a PR double raw. I then got back in the shirt for the first time since the Feb meet. I benched 365 in that meet and today I tripled it. Guess I can't complain. Each rep of the triple a seam in my armpit started to tear a little more, luckily it held together for all the reps though.

    Had an awesome Easter weekend. I started hanging out with this new girl who rocks and we went out with some of her friends Friday night. Had a great time, then Saturday I took care of a bunch of stuff during the day and then drove down to Atlantic City at night. Played a few hours of poker and kicked some ass, then drove to my Aunt and Uncle's shore house in Ocean City, NJ. Stayed there and had Easter breakfast/brunch with my family. It was a great time all around.

    Friday night I pulled @ Gold's. I went up to 441 for a few singles without chalk. Then I went to 461 for a single and a double with double overhand/straps. I need to buy myself some chalk so I can sneak it in there. AFter that I did some assistance work, nothing crazy. Kinda felt rundown from lack of sleep during the weekend, but went back in on Monday for raw bench stuff.
