The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Not really...my bench sucks. I do them legs completely straight with no leg drive and my PR with a handoff is 265x1. I did these with no handoff/spotter.

    Deadlifts+assistance

    Conventional deadlifts(Raw)

    135x3x2 sets
    225x2
    315x1

    *add belt*

    405x1
    475x1
    500x1
    515x1

I was gonna try for a double, but decided against it.

    Plate loaded lat pulls

    90x12x2 sets(1 set OH/1 set UH)
    140x10x5 sets(3 sets OH/2 sets UH)

    Face pulls

    3 sets of 15

    Abs

    5 sets

I was thinking of going for a PR double tonight, but my back was not feeling too hot. I felt like a I strained something way down low, so after I pulled the 515, I decided to leave it at that. I didn't do any rows either because it was pretty uncomfortable after that. I just did some lighter upper back stuff and light abs stuff to try and stretch it out. I took some advil and I will relax the next few days. It will be fine, nothing serious.

Nice job in softball the other day man. I'm back on a team here for the summer and our season's first game is this Tuesday. Still searching for the HR technique.

Really nice lifting back in the gear man. Your raw pulling is getting pretty nasty!

Thanks man. We sucked this week though, no HR stroke this week, lol.I think it just means I suck at getting weight out of my gear in the deadlift. Hopefully I figure that out.

Nice job man! That's a nasty pull!

I took the day off from the gym yesterday after a long weekend. Spent the whole day with my GF and her son. We had a great time. Over the weekend I got beyong hammered drunk to the point of puking. Not my finest hour, lol. Between cleaning up my diet a bit, dehydration through drinking and doing some cardio the last few weeks...I am down about 6 lbs. Squatted tonight.

    Squat(Ace briefs)

    325x1

    *add knee wraps*

645x1(felt good/depth looked pretty good on video)

I was happy to get that in after the way the last few days went. Was gonna do some heavy unracks, but decided to not push it with my knee. Of course I did the prowler anyway for 4 trips of ass-kicking.

    Easy Chris!

After my meet next weekend I'm gonna search through your log, figure out what made your squat top-end so nasty, then drill that hard until the July meet. If I had your top end I'd be a freaking 800lb squatter* hahaha

*estimate may vary from actual results

Haha, thanks man. First off I think it's all monolift+regular use of gangsta bands and/or heavy chains. If I had to walk weights out, I would not have such a great top end because I would never be able to setup with 750+ on my back. I always take my air into my belly before I unrack and hold it the whole way down. I also jack my hands in real tight when I setup which keeps my upper back so much tighter. If I do those two things right, I barely feel the weight when I stand up.

I pretty much just do one movement, usually twice per week. Right now I have pretty much been doing face pulls, sometimes I do rear DB raises or H-rolls which light them up good.

Felt pretty good tonight. I think I could have hit 5 reps with the 475, but my grip was going as I locked out the 4th rep, so I just brought it back down and left it at that. I am really trying to get my conditioning up and it is definitely improving. I think I will do some cardio tomorrow and Sunday, since I don't have any softball games this weekend.

My conditioing is coming along little by little. Trying to increase the amount of cardio I do a little bit each time. I think I am going to have a day like this every week just working on some volume with bodyweight on dips and chins. When I start my new job I will be doing a lot of climbing and I not only need to be strong, but I need some endurance to get through long days. I plan on being in excellent shape going in, even if that means I have to sacrifice some bodyweight. Either way I am still gonna lift balls-out heavy, lol.

Played a ton of softball yesterday with my friends and my knee was really killing me. I decided I didn't want to squat this week to see if it feels any better. My plan is to try and shirt bench on Friday. If I can do it, I will compete next week...if I suck, I don't think it will be worth it to push it with my knee and everything. We shall see.

Nice job with the pull PR and the inclines. I've been doing those for the past couple of workouts and my chest is getting HYUUGE! lol. jk, kinda. Beach muscles FTW!

Haha, thanks man. I am not sure what inclines do...but I suck at them real bad so I guess I should make them stronger.

    Bench

    Bench press

    135x3
    185x1
    225x1

    *Add tight Phenom*

    315x1x2 sets(not close)
    365x1x2 sets(One was 2" off/next was slightly less)

Both singles with 365 went up easy.

    *shirt off*

    155x18
    145x20
    135x23

That took care of cardio, lol. Wasn't expecting much today. I am down about 6-8 lbs since the last time I got in the shirt and I didn't do anything heavy last week. Bernor jacked my shirt on the last 365 and it went up real easy. I just gotta make sure to squeeze through the pain to make it touch. I still have my looser shirt too depending on how bloated I am on meet day.

    Light upper/6 days out

    Bench press

    135x5
    185x3x6 sets

    Incline press

    115x5
    135x5
    155x5

    Plate loaded lat pulls

    3 sets of 12

    Dips

    BWx15x3 sets

    Face pulls

    3 sets of 15

Nice and easy. Last upper body session before the meet. I am 6 days out, weighing ~173 in the morning. I will make weight @165 and then get back up to 173-175 on the platform. Have some kinda nasty thing that's making me cough at night and hack up some nastiness in the morning, but I feel better as the day goes on and I don't feel weakened by it so I should be fine with some rest the next few days.

When you cut weight does your strength diminish a lot? The reason I am asking is because I am about 176 in the morning when I weigh myself and I would kind of like to cut down to 165 for my first meet in about 5 weeks. Also, what's the best way that has worked for you to cut weight?
