    Friday 3/1/13 Week 8 Day 1 - Bench

Alright, so the computer I edit video with is dead! I'll continue to record, but it may be a bit before I get them up. In the meantime we'll go old school with the log.

    Dbl Ext 30 3x8
    Band scap retractions 3x12

Yes, I feel fully recovered when I get to my training. I really like the 3 days instead of the 4 a week. I'm able to put more in to each session. Plus the change up in exercises has been great.

Friday 3.8.13 Week 9 Day 1 Bench (training change up and why I love Matt Rhodes)
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Pause bench 450 1x3
CAT bench 420 6x3* (failed last rep on last set)
3 board close grip with 1 chain per side 430 x3x3x5
    Bottom end drives 390 2x6
    Dbl flyes 40 3x15
Tri set tricep ext 80 4x8
    Band scap retractions 3x12
    Band pullaparts 4x12
    Plank 30 seconds x 3

This was different than my previous bench sessions. Change is good. Lots of volume. Did this training up at Murph's gym, Total Performance Sports. I was f'ing stressed because my transmission basically blew on the way up into boston. I had to manually shift an automatic transmission.

It was going to cost $600 to tow it back to CT. My savior, Matt Rhodes, had AAA and said he would follow me home. If I broke down he'd use it to get me a tow. Long story short, I manually shifted the truck and white knuckled it all the way home without indident. Thanks for going so far out of your way for me homie.

Dropped the truck off at my friend's shop on Sunday night. He had a factory transmission installed by Tuesday afternoon. Sweet! As I drove away, the computer started throwing codes on the dash, not so sweet. I would figure with the many K it cost me, the truck would be the least of my worries for a while. Not so. Got to bring her back today.

Oh yeah, nearly broke my parents thermostat when I had to replace the batteries in it while they were away. Got a letter from EZ pass about speeding through the tolls. And these are all the least of my worries as of late.

I have faith and am hoping for good karma. I try to put it out there. If you are reading this, please send me some positive vibes. Regardless, I'm keeping my chin up and putting one foot in front of the other. Hope you all have an awesome day.

    Week 9 Day 3 - Tuesday 3.11.13
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Incline dbl rows 130 3x6
    Dbl shrugs 110 3x15
    Band bench flat pulldowns 3x12
One arm dbl rows 130 3x6
    Standing band low rows 3x15
Neutral grip pullups bw+5lbs 3x6* failed last rep on 3rd set
    Land mines 25 3x6

Ok, so my training week starts on Friday and ends on Monday, usually. This time it ended on Tuesday. Had my car and a lot of other crap to deal with on Monday, so I couldn't train. Tuesday was not much different, but I squeezed training in before the Just Big radio show. Not my best performance, but Jess was really impressed I got it in at all. For me, it's not an option.

I think what I miss most about the videos is getting a sense of how each exercise was feeling and watching them get easier for you (except landmines right?)

I did landmines once... *blech* The rest of the stuff has been pretty helpful. Get that computer fixed! It isn't like you really need a vehicle to get back and forth to work, etc. Not when we want training vids... C'mon, where are your priorities?

Hey guys. I appreciate for the encouragement. I do plan on getting back to the videos. I am at a bit of a crossroads on where my training is going. So right now, I don't need the extra stress in my life of getting the videos up. Trying to reduce stress in my life presently. I will get back to them when the time is right. Thx for understanding.

    Friday 3.15.13 Week 10, Day 1
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Pause bench 465 1x3
    CAT/Speed bench 420 7x3
    Close grip 3 board 450&chains 3x2
Bench, bottom end drives 410 2x6
    Dbl flyes 40 3x15
    Bbl extensions 90 4x15
    Band scap retractions 3x12
    Band pullaparts 3x12
    Planks 30 seconds x 3

Pretty good session. Not feeling super strong, but got through everything. Was supposed to do tri set extensions, but my pec/shoulder wss really killing me. Hurt on the flyes also. So, I decided I'd go with bbl ext. They were not bothering my pec/shoulder. I'll see what Josh says about that.

Went back and watched some of the previous videos. How do you like the landmines? Personally, I detest them with all my being.

Friday 3.22.13 - Week 11, Day 1 Josh is trying to kill me
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Rev mini band bench 585/605/605/605/620
    CAT (dynamic bench) 420 8x3
    3 Board w/50 lbs in chains 465 2x2, 1x4
Bottom end drive bench 425 2x5
    Standing band flyes 3x15
Tri set tricep ext 40 4x12*
    Band scap retractions 3x12
    Band pullaparts 4x12
    Planks 30 seconds x3

*This is a superset of 3 exercises. On sets 3 and 4 I had to take about a 10-15 second break to regroup before I finished the 3rd exercise.

This was a ridiculous amount of benching. I was not necessarily happy with my numbers. However, I took 605 with three different grips and have decided on a new grip. It's about 2" more narrow. That's a step in the right direction. Training at about 10 lbs lighter has really made a difference in my leverages.

When I got to the dynamic work, I was spent for about the first three sets of 420. The fourth set started to get better. They kept getting better up through set 7. Set 8 was far from a speed rep. Might have been an rpe of about 9-10.

On to boards. I was spent there. But again, I picked up some strength on the 3rd set. I told the guys I was hoping for 2-3 considering how difficult the first two sets were. I ended up taking a fourth. Freaked the guys out. Drew started to pull the board after the 3rd when I decided to do another. Totally my bad, but Drew was quick to get the board back in position.

Bottom end drives sucked, but I did them. The whole time I was benching I thought I was going to skip assistance. I was fried. I wanted no part of it. When I was done with bench, I felt like a coward for even thinking about skipping assistance. I ended up doing it. The tri set triceps were tough. Like I said above, I had to take a break, but I did them.

Another one in the books. Josh Bryant is a great coach, but I really think he's trying to kill me.
