Nice work! Your journal is pretty motivating. I see all these big weights being used and it keeps me motivated to keep lifting hard.

    3 board 625x1 add Inzer Super Duper Phenom 800x1, 900x1, 1005x0, 1005x1?

Took a lot of weight so I did not do my raw work tonight. All the weights felt light up until the grand. The first was comfortable in my hands, but it was shakey at the top and not completely locked. I knew I could get a better push on it so I took it again after a few minutes. It was a much better push. It would have gotten 2 to 1 by the judges, but it could have gone either way. Anyway, it served it's purpose I wanted to overload wieght and I did. I feel very strong and am on track. I only have one more shirted bench until the meet. Let's Rock!

I have video, but I am keeping it for myself. I am sick of getting critiqued on other forums by people who could not subtotal my bench. If that sounds arrogant I'm sorry. I"m just working too hard to take sh_t from anyone.

Here's the vid of my 900 and 1005 3 board the other night. I'm just posting it here in my journal for those kind enough to visit. Like I said above, the grand was shaky, but then again, it's a grand.

    Video

    1/17/09
    SSB squat 285x5, 310x5, 335x5
    Curls 100 3x10
    Band pushdowns 2x25
    Crunches 3x15

I was glad to squat today instead of Sunday. I figured I'd get it over with. I am keeping it light until the meet. Just sticking around deload numbers for sq and dl. I strained my left bicep curling today. I feel like such a puss with the lighter weights I have to use. So I wanted to do some moderate weight and I am paying for it today.

Had my wife do some singles today to see where her lifting is. These were all raw, she does not even own a belt
    Squat-215
    Bench-145
    DL 260

These were not bad, but she is capable of much more. I have her on the Bill Starr 5x5. We are going to pick a meet this summer and then plan a 12 week pl workout. She wants to have a top ten raw total for the year in the 145's for her first meet. She can do it easily. I guess I can get her wraps and a belt for Valentine's Day. Maybe PLUSA will even put her in their mag. God sure knows they want nothing to do with me.

Nice vid man! I've noticed how much people critique your vids and I just laugh every time I read it because you bench more than they total. Keep up the hard work man! It's great motivation for us weaker guys.

Yeah, I know. The best part is I am hitting PRs every week, so I am happy where I am headed right now. This is the week for big numbers for me. Keep up the good work!

Just disgusting in here Vin! I have heard a lot of people suggest staying away from boards in the shirt once you have broken a new one in. Do you just get to a point where your equipped bench is so ridiculous that the carryover from unequipped boards is useless? I guess I am asking if you feel raw board work would still be beneficial to your equipped bench once it gets that high?

That grand looked a look better then you made it sound.

I thought I was a badass doing 500x1 raw on bench. This journal gives me some much needed humbling. Good work man.

Thanks. I work up to a heavy single raw boards before the shirt. Then heavy boards with the shirt. I never believed in board work in the shirt when I was wearing a denim. I saw too many people hitting huge board numbers but then could not touch. The poly shirts now have more give so touching is not as much of a problem.

Now the premise is to really overload using the boards and shirt. I have handled well over 900 many times so 900 does not sound like such a crazy concept. My body and cns have handled it fine. Now my mind is starting to follow. I say if touching is not a problem for you give the boards and shirt overlaod a try.

Hey, 500 raw is badass. Throw 5 wheels on each side of a barbell and bench that in any commercial gym and you are going to turn a lot of heads.
