    ME Bench

    -Incline close grip bench, 95/135/185/225/315/365x3, 405/455x1, 495x0, 495x1, 405x5 with one second pause at top, 225x23
    -Barbell tri ext 135/185x10, 135x10
    -Fat bar pushdowns, 60/70/80x12
    -Side lateral raises 20 3x120
    -Face pulls 80 3x15

    As I have said, Dave Tate is doing my programming for me. I am really grateful becuase I like being an athlete. An ahtlete has a coach. Now I just have to perform. It's been a long time since I have had this privelage. Anwyay, I think Dave is a sadist. Close grip inclines--really. Between the steepness of the incline at our gym and close grip thumbs from the smooth, I could barely get the bar to my chest. Well, I missed 495 which pissed me off. I knew i could get it. So, I took it again and nailed it. Then I had to do a set at 80% with pauses. After that was a drop set at 50%. I think I could have gotten a few more than 23, but I was told not to miss.

    I was friggin spent. The ME work was enough for a whole session to me. Anyway, I hit my assistance after that and was done. I iced my shoulders and that was that.

    That's some strong inclines bro, nice work!!! It is nice to have a coach, I've been flying solo for about 5 months now and it can be rough at times.

    Back and Biceps

    -Pulldowns to belly 110 4x12
    -1 arm dbl rows 60/70/80 x10
    -Band assisted pullups 3x10
    -EZ curl w/bands 3x10
    -Dbl hammer curls 50 2x10

    Felt really beat up after last night's ME bench. However, I knew if I got up and moved around I'd feel better. I know the pulldowns look super light, but in my defense I have a really crappy plate loaded machine that seems to make everything heavier. Plus, I was reading from a manual Dave sent me. In the book it said for the bench you should really concentrate on pulling with the elbows for back work. So for today's training I really pulled hard with the elbows. It's not about how much I can do pulldowns with, it's about how much I can bench. I felt a pump, so something worked.

    I want to incorporate pull ups back into my training. However, they can really f-up my already f'd up biceps. So I threw some bands up. I can do them without bands, but I'm removing my ego. I just want to train well and become a better bencher. Hopefully I'm on my way.

    Squat and Dl

    -Treadmill, 20 minutes steady
    -Standing band ab pulldowns, 3x15
    -SSB seated gm's 3x10
    -SSB squats,155/245/310/350x5 405x20
    -Trap bar dl, 310/350/405x5

    All of the correspondence with Dave has caused me to be more introspective of my training. He's asked me a bunch of things that lead back to my logs. Meanwhile, I viewed my logs as things I maintained for sponsorships rather than important training tools. In other words, if you keep any type of log, go back and read it once in a while. It's very enlightening.

    So, looking back I saw that I had experienced a lot of success squatting and deadlifting on the same day. However, in my head I just want to train more. Plus I figured if I have two upper body days I should have two lower. Well, just wanting to train more does not necessarily correlate to a bigger bench. Dave has forced me to think what is best for my bench. Rhodes and I talked about this over the weekend. You can't serve two masters. My goal right now is to bench more, so that needs to be my focus.

    Regarding the training, I was not feeling well in the morning. However, I knew I must push forward. I was very sore. The treadmill got me nice and warm. Once under the bar I felt better. I really pushed the last set of squats. I ended up dizzy with a migrane. Oh well, I still had deadlifts. I figure I'll push the reps on one of the exercises a week. There's no way I could have pushed the reps on my last set of dl's like I did on the squat. Heck, I was still out of breath from squatting.

    Lastly, I am very pleased the Jets won. My brother Sammy is a big Jets fan. I only wish we could have watched the game together.

    Now I think I have three days off from lifting until Friday. We'll see.

    Have another day off from school due to weather. I'll be teaching until August.

    Ya'll have summer classes or are ya'll one of those districts who have been so under the weather you're going to pretty much have summer school to make up lost time? haha. Work looks good man, but you'll probably end up in the gym lifting before Friday, you usually do.

    Damn, you know me too well. Actually, Dave wants me to switch my back and bicep day to Wednesday. He wants me to leave Saturday open for a recovery/flush session if necessary. Oh well, I guess I 'll just have to lift tomorrow.

    Already found out, got a 90 minute delay tomorrow. Looks like snow here on Friday also. I guess I'll have to get by with 8 weeks off this summer instead of 10.
