The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Bill Starrs routine or Rippetoes routine?

I used to work out for football in high school, but now I havent worked out for about 2 yrs. I was just wondering which one would be a better routine to do. The Bill Starrs program or Rippetoes program. My goal is to get bigger and get stronger. If Bill Starr is the way to go which one of his should I use the intermediate or the linear version. Thanks for all yalls help.

I am in the same boat as you (used to work out for football and am now just getting back into lifting) and went with Rippetoes to start out with. It will give me a good foundation to then move on the Bill Starrs routine and keep things simple to start out with. After you've passed the newbie phase you should go onto Bill Starrs routine. That's probably what I'll end up doing.

Its personal preference. Rippetoes is designed around its title: "Starting Strength." Both programs are going to give great results for mass and PR's.

The bill starr's intermediate routine IS the linear version. I think you meant the linear or the periodized routine. If so, you should start with the linear.
