am i gonna have to get a mod in here.... lol! thanks dan. i feel fine. still waiting for someone to answer my question about the tearing ligaments and that crap. my DOMS (forgot what that means, but sore after workout or something) is fine, and i wasnt all that sore this week. but as keith reminded me, i do know DOMS isnt the only indicator of overtraining/undertraining.

ah yes, that sounds familiar painzer, you got anything on the tearing question? anyone? just want to know like if you can feel them get sore (abnormally sore) first so you kinda know "oh sh** i better stop", or if it usually jsut happens w/o warning. the only time ive torn ligaments is during football which is different movement (fast twitch) than weightlifting.

alright, zen and i conversed a bit tonight and he helped me come up with this. it's less overtraining and allows me more recovery, and i hit my delts enough to please me i suppose. here it is.

    Clean and Jerk 5x3
    Squat
    Seated OH DB Press
    Core
    --------------------------------
    Deadlift
    GHR
    T-Bar Rows
    Dips
    Calves
    --------------------------------
    Bench Press
    Mili Press
    Chins
    Core
    --------------------------------
    Front Squat
    Incline DB Press
    BO Row
    HB Raises
    Calves
    -------------------------------

alternates pullovers, handstand pushups, hack squats

    Core
    Crunches, twist, reverse, GHR
    Back hypers

this seems like a more appropriate routine. ill try this oen for a week now. the lower number of exercises allows me to go harder on each one too.

A few things that catch my eye:

    - You're deadlifting the day after you squat
    - You're pressing the day after dips
    - You're doing chins the day after you're rowing and deadlifting
    - You're incline pressing the day after benching
    - You're rowing again after doing back

I don't know why you're creating these routines and what you're after but I'll say it again, I would stick to a routine that hits everything that also gives you sufficient time to recover for every body part. What are your goals right now, dude? What do you want to accomplish with this routine? And I don't know what you want my opinion about with the muscle tear thing you're talking about.

Good luck with the new program Jed! Looks tight!

    thanks flynn.

keith - okay. then help me put it in the proper order. this routine is no more intense than the routine i had been doing for 4 months straight. the routine has been a full body routine, often times hitting many body parts almost every day or every other day, just like this one. i am not trying to be rude or anything, but im just confused on how this routine is worse than the one ive been doing for a few months now. on the last routine, i hit back 3 of 4 days. i hit my whole posterior chain 3 of 4 days including quads also (squat and cleans, then deads, then front squats and GHR's). im not trying to argue with you. just trying to defend myself somewhat, letting you know that i beleive 4 or however many months i did that routine was enough to figure out if that was overtraining or not.

my goals now? just to get big, and catch up my chest and medial/rear delts as much as i can while its easy. that explains the small additions of one or two chest/delt isos here and there. my main goal is to get to 200 BW by summer. if you think i should stick with the routine ive been doing for a while, then tell me. i really dont think this routine is bad, and switching it up every once in a while is good to do. i would appreciate help putting it in a more 'sensible' order, as you have pointed out many legit flaws in the order of it. im thinking switch it to how it was, day 1 deads, day 2 bench, day 3 squat, day 4 other. then usually 3 off days. 4 on 3 off. thanks for the input, appreciated.

Nice moves on that Squat, bro. Twenty reps is just gross though. Knock that **** off.

As far as tissue tears are concerned, you will generally not see them coming. All you can do is try your best to prevent them with smart training. Some people do all the right things and still tear a bicep, pec, lat or whatever. Overtraining can wear things down to a point where you are at a higher risk for injury. But a tear or pull can and usually do happen out of nowhere. Here are some great preventative tips that I use:

    - See a chiropractor regularly if you can
    - Dynamically warmup any muscles you plan to use that day (try to break a sweat before you ever touch a weight)
    - Don't static stretch before you lift
    - Ramp up loads reasonably (anything more than a 50 lb jump should have good reason)
    - If it pops, tingles, or shoots pain - STOP - you are done for the day
    - If it feels extra heavy that day, don't attempt to push the limits (this is my problem)
    - Last, static stretch the muscles used AFTER you lift - this realigns the tissues and gets circulation to everything.

I'll pop back in later to comment on your routine. Gonna go lift now. Hope that helps, bro. Nobody can really avoid injuries in this sport. Just the risk we all take.

excellent list of preventative measures dude. i usually do dynamic stretch before big things like deads and bench etc. can you suggest a stretch that loosens up the medial and rear delts? ive tried and cant come up with much.

Nice workouts man. 205x20 is insane! HAve you puked yet?

My personal opinion on routines (this is coming from a powerlifters point of view), is to train your upper body twice a week (i do it monday thursday) and lower body twice aswell (tuesday friday). Put the focus of your first upper body workout on your bench and your chest, while hitting your back with some accessory stuff, and then on the second upper body day, focus on heavy pulling and your back (lats), and then do some stuff for your chest and shoulders.

Lower body workouts are the same with a squat focus one day, and deadlift (recovery) the second day.

Just a thought. I'm not really a big fan of the full body workouts

thanks dude, im jacked for it. if i get 225x20 in 4 weeks i will piss myself. i havent puked yet actually. i dont puke much. *knocks on wood* yeah man i totally see where your comin from on your perspective. i just havent had a problem w/ this full body routine yet, and ive made some good gains (maybe not all time PRs, but it shot me back up to where i used to be). im thinking at the end of this month im gonna look into DC training maybe. got a friend doing it and he says its outstanding. thanks for the input brudda
