dblock and dan - lol thanks guys!! i hit even better tonight im comin around again...

    TONIGHTS W/O :

bench to the press : 135 warmup, 185x10, 225x8, 235x4!!!! wooo buddy! i was jacked for 225x8, idk how ive maintained even half of my strength over the summer. last weeks was 185x10, 205x8, 225x6 fatigue!

    chins : x12, x11, x10... last weeks was 12, 10, 8

    GHR situps : BWx12, +10 2x12... last weeks was BW 3x12

uneven bar bends : 60lb 3x10 WOW KILL ME. keph these are terrifyingly painful.

DB cleans : 20's 3x10... tie last week.

WHAT A W/O!! im so happy that im finding workouts that make me feel awesome, and VERY happy that my strength is still relatively "up there"... if im able to get in another time this week, im gonna hit up the squat rack for sure!

I'm jealous of your ability to not lose much strength over time. Great work bro. Some one told me DB cleans were great but I could never get the hang of them. I see they're working out for you though.

alright workout tonight... attempted squats, and that was a big fail. nice feelin with everything else though.

    chins : 14, 13, 9.5... these felt nice

    dips : BW 3x10

squats : 135 warmup, 225x3... OUCH. knees, hips are NOT feeling it. 185x10... instant double hammy cramp after the rack. they cramped on and off for the next 20 minutes. no idea whats goin on here, they were solid a week ago.

    HB raises : 20s 3x10

    DB bench : 55 3x10...

    stretch, BW 191.

Hmm. Maybe you need some dynamic stretching pre-workout? I hate cramps.

Still good work getting a workout in. Hammy cramp sounds a bit weird.. Last spot I'd expect to hear of one from squats. You were probably tight before even starting

your probably right kill, i shouldve been smarter. i havent used my legs other than flipping tires at work for a while. and thats not a squat motion. i stretched a small amount before i did, but def. not enough i guess!

dblock, i cramp in my hammies all the time. with my narrow stance i really engage the hams. was definitely tight before startup.

Those cramps are literally a pain in the ass. Just stretch the bejeezus outta them and eat some nanners!

    Sweet session otherwise Jedley!

Hey bro, just catching up on things in here from the last week. Awesome to see you getting under the bar again. Unreal with your strength. You must have been keeping your diet up pretty well to maintain almost all your strength, right on bro. Those DB Cleans can get sort of disgusting after a couple sets eh? 60 lbs on the uneven bar bends is insane! You are telling me you had 60 lbs loaded on one side of an olympic bar and the other side was empty and you were able to do three sets of 10, bending towards the loaded side of the bar? Incredible if so. If not, how did you do them?

Glad to see you are having fun again with your workouts, bro. I wouldn't worry too much about your squat. That is always the first thing to go down with my lifts. A lot of the time it isn't a matter of leg strength, it's that your core is soft and you pay more attention to how the weight feels up top instead of down low. As far as the cramping goes, yeah, dynamic warmups, bro. Take at least 10-15 minutes to warm your legs up before getting under that bar. I always do this before my first set of squats with the bar:

    - 15 forward leg swings (each leg)
    - 15 side-to-side leg swings (each leg)
    - 15 Banded Hip Abductions
    - 20 Terminal Knee Extensions (each leg)
    - 10 Split Squats (each leg)
    - 15 Shoulder Dislocates w/ PVC pipe
    - 10 GHR Situps
    - (complete two rounds of the above movements in a circuit fashion, no resting, this is warmup)
    - 3 sets of 3 quick, explosive high jumping (as high as you can), tucking knees to chest at top and firing from full tuck at bottom (this gets my CNS started).

Here is a link to some of the move above: http://stronglifts.com/7-dynamic-str...-hip-mobility/

Here is a link to TKEs: http://asp.elitefts.com/qa/default.a...=33895&tid=115

This warmup has helped me out a lot. I really recommend picking up a couple of Purple (Light) bands from EFS to do the hip abductions and TKEs. The TKEs are the greatest thing I ever started doing for my knees. Love that ****. Hope that helps, bro.

zen, flynn - thanks for the words.

K - wow broski, ill for sure try all of those before my next squat workout. yeah like i said my diet hasnt been terrible, but it has by no means been spectacular either. JUSt enough to stay a tiny bit below maintainence, which is alot better than what ive been doing the other summers. nah bro, the side bends were 45 of the olympic, plus the 15 lb of plates on the side = 60. will look into the bands.

    so-so workout tonight.

bench : warmup, 185x10, 205x10, 225x7+1... almost hit 8 like last week, in addition to the whole set of 205x10.

wide chins (wide!) : BW x7, 6, 6... these are hard to do with wide grip.

GHR situps : bw 4x12... oooh the burn.

    standing weighted calves : 225 3x15

    BW calves : 4x20

    BW : 191

Ok, I'm with ya on the load for the Uneven Bar Bends. I always logged +15 or whatever, I wasn't thinking of the bar as weight. +15 is perfect place to start, things are wicked nasty ****ing hard, lol. They make me feel like I just got done puking my brains out or something.

Awesome benching, bro. Strength and endurance is coming back up for sure. 225x10 fresh next time. I hate wide-chins, they always tweak my wrists out from the angle it puts them at. Strong **** with the calf work too. Where are you working out now, thought you didn't have a gym this summer?

K's advice sounds great, I'm going to have to start doing them too. Great work man, your chest strength is really strong. I'm sure you'd be hitting 3 plate soon if you were able to bench consistently.

k - thanks dudely. yeah man, the bar bends are sick. they tear apart every part of my upper body, really. from the uneven-ness and my other side of my torso trying to balance it out and sh**, lol. i will try for 225x10 fresh next time after a few reps of 185. and im lifting where i usually do. its not that i dont have a weightroom, its just 20 mins away and with work and being tired and all that sh** its been hard to get in there consistent. dig?

coke - thanks a lot bro.

dblock - sadly i dont think its my chest strength, but anterior delts and tris. my chest is dinky. and when i do DB bench, my PR is like 60's for 11, which leads me to beleive my chest aint the strong point! oh well though, ive been working on it. my anterior delts are huge compared to my lateral and posterior, and my triceps have always been strong. they always overpower my chest and it makes it hard to isolate it! grrr.

I don't think my chest really took off until I started doing Ring Dips. Those things do wonders for my pecs. You might invest in a pair, bro. $75 from Ringtraining.com, check it out, you can hang them from just about anything, anywhere.
