The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

You got a lot of balls to be doing snatch in the first place. Seems like your a bit hard on yourself... I don't know much about snatches but the video didn't look as bad as you made it out to be hahah

Just checking in mate. Youre an oly lifter now? Cool. Glad your are having a lot of fun. Makes it that much better.

BTW, thanks for the little job description. Sounds super exciting. Lots of expensive suits, dark glasses and talking into your sleeve. GL with it mate!

Kill - Hah i've always worn that outfit mate, one of my favs. Coach doesn't want me thinking too much, but I agree thinking is a killer.

Fooz, bor - Thanks dudes, but all that I said was indeed true. Maybe a bit hard for so early in the game true, but it's all stuff that needs corrected.

Flynn - Lots of fun mate. And yeah, the job will be stellar when I get hired in a couple years. Can't wait!

It's been a little while, but I saw those kick ass PR's you got back there. The +30 lbs. squat was the most impressive to me. That's awesome man!

So you're doing all Oly stuff now huh? What are your thoughts on it? Do you feel stronger overall? Do you feel like you are getting in better shape? I never knew that you were into this type of thing. Very cool!

How's your technique on the snatch and C&J? Improving?

Awwww, guys. I feel so loved! I missed y'all too! Thanks for checking in on me... I have been pretty busy with lifting, running, working, schooling and other sh** with my internship and what not. Finally have received my security clearance so I am officially ready to be shipped (or ship myself more like) to D.C. for a long, fun, informative summer.

Nothing notable with lifting so far after that 102 C&J. Have been working a ton on my technique and form. Snatch is still crappy but I am finally beginning to look better on it. I can probably do 60-65 KG with decent form. Haven't gone over 75-80% with C&J since that 1RM either, but my form's getting better on that also. I might 1RM sometime soon on snatch and C&J and a few others as time progresses. I got my Olympic shoes and they are badass and help a bunch, check them out.

I hit an all-time BW PR of 212 lbs recently, and I have decided that's far enough for now. I'm getting some unwanted fat on me and i'm really out of shape cardiovascularly. I have been running pretty hard the past week and plan on sticking with it. I can now jog at 5.5 MPH (I know, not very fast) for 20 straight minutes, which is a HUGE accomplishment for me. I want to keep doing this and get up to 20-30 minute range at 7-8 mph - this will help tremendously in my physique and getting rid of that nasty unwanted fat.

I plan on changing my health and physique by cutting down on the processed and deep-fried garbage i've been eating and have started to eat broccoli, cauliflower, apples, carrots, watermelon, pineapple, 100% juices and some other stuff that only after a few days have already started to effect me in positive ways. I regret not doing these things before. I was literally getting MAYBE 3 servings of fruit/veggies A MONTH. Now I am getting the reccomended dosage for each, daily. Feeling great and expecting to see and feel some changes soon.

I hope all of you are doing well. Means a lot that you all check in on me! Keep S'in.F.W.!

Trust me when I say you'll literally feel better when you start eating cleaner. Biggest difference I've noticed is the fact that I haven't been sick in well over a year now since I've really been eating fairly strict. I mean not even a sniffle all winter, and my roommates were sick 24/7.

That's awesome Vain. I had been sick for probably 6 straight weeks before I started this. My parents mentioned in their convincing me, "and sometimes when you don't get enough greens your immune system gets crappy and you can be sick for months". After a week of this stuff I'm already almost 100%! Crazy how that stuff works out.

Not much... I tried creatine for a while but didn't notice much from it. I think now that i'm more developed I have a harder time seeing results from it. I try to take glucosamine but often times forget to take it. I should start slamming a multi-vitamin a day, too. I was eating about 3500+ cals/day plus at least 100g fat and got to a cellulitey and chubbyish 212. Now i'm probably eating about 2000-2300 and 30-40g fat, and also running 20 minutes 4 times a week. You think i'll be able to maintain strength and lose fat? Of course it depends on a number of things but you always have good input.

jed I am definitely no Oly lift form expert but it seems to me your form on the 2nd, heavier lift was actually better on the clean portion. Very impressive-looking lifts.

I've gone through a 100 day tub of creatine twice now and I still don't really think I get much from it. Could be just me. Glucosamine + Chondroitin has helped my joint pain immensely.

As far as vitamins, I'd really stress getting some Vitamin D, Vitamin C, and zinc. If you can get a good multi it should cover most stuff.

Honestly no you probably won't maintain strength. That's a pretty big drop in calories, how much do you weigh right now? I would up the fat. Fat is good for you. Cut carbs over anything else until it starts to affect your workouts. Some people just don't have shit for energy without carbs, and some are fine.
