The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Oh, just did some thing for scouts we're doing 'personal fitness' pretty worthless but wutever, we took measurements.... here they are (inches) :

    Right Arm Flexed : 14.75
    Right Arm Relaxed : 13.5
    Right Flexed Forearm : 13.5
    Neck : 15.75
    Shoulders : 47.5
    Chest : 38.25
    Abs (navel) : 31.5
    Waist : 32.5
    Right Calf Flexed : 16.25
    Right Quad : 23.25

Yeah, just some measurements I spose. They look good? Is it better to have bigger calves than arms, or is it the other way around?

No doubt man, 20 rep squats is some pretty adventurous shait, lol.

The neck, arms and calves 'supposedly' should be similar as far as stats are concerned. Doing nice overall.

    Oh cool Coke, thanks.

Kind of disappointed today, came in ready to lift and coach surprised us with a weightroom basketball tourny. Some prety decent cardio for a while i guess, but I would of rather lifted. Oh well, I think my body deserves a rest anyways from those two great workouts tuesday and wednesday!

Nice, basketball's always fun. Ya, my old measurements had my neck, calves, and arms all at 15 inches. So if anything you're everything BUT arms .

eh, looks like we lost about 2 weeks worth of posts here... oh well. got diagnosed with Bronchitis about 4 days ago, so my workouts have been pretty tough on account of asthma + bronchitis = not very much breathing...

couldnt post for a while cause of the problems, but i do remember my bench workout from thursday, it was really good...

Bench : 135x10, 185x5, 195x5, 205x5, 215x5, 225x4... think thats the most 225 reps i've done since last May or something, so thats good. didnt squat this weak because that really gets me breathing fast, and wasnt a good idea with the breathing problems im having. hopefully tomorrow i can handle it.

Thanks coke, yeah it's pretty tough but my antibiotics + inhaler + anti-inflammatories + cough syrup + 800mg ibuprofein kind of makes it easier to breathe

    pretty good workout today, considering.

    pullups : x18, x15, x10

squat : 175x20.... legs were jello! i think that's the highest weight i've done on supersquats so far, so making progress. 180 wednesday.

    lower back extensions : 3x10

team workout : 3 sets of 45 sec L's, 3 sets of 30 sec Crunches

those supersquats look evil. You keep putting on the weight, so that's gotta be helping your lifts. You're going to be a corn-fed Iowan soon enough.

shakes man! SHAKES! For breakfast I drink 2 cups dry oatmeal with 1 cup powdered milk, it's an easy 900 cal shake. I do this a few times during the day. I'm already at 1800 cals today. Surely a strong guy from Iowa can gulp down a few 1000 cal shakes during the day.

hey sweet micky. is it ok if i just use 1% milk instead? i would go with 2%, but no one else in the fam likes it. the only prob i have with shakes is it seems every time i drink one, i have to go to the bathroom within 30 minutes, and it just kind of seems like if i drink one then take a dookie 30 mins later it's just like you drank it for nothing. if im wrong PLEASE correct me!

had a pretty nice bench workout today, went as heavy as i ever have for 3 reps i beleive. woke up this morning with some serious sharp pain in my lower right lungs... couldnt breathe at all but it's gotten much better thru the day but its still there when i take deep breaths. kind of like a constant lung cramp from running or something?

    bench : 135x5, 135x5, 185x5, 205x3, 215x3, 225x3, 230x3, 235x3... last rep of 235 was very sloppy but i got it up legit.

    glute ham raise : 2x10

team workout : 3 sets of 45 sec L's and 3 set's of medicine ball work for 30 sec.

Appear lactose intolerant, lactaid milk should help you out there but it's more expensive...nice benching bro.

are you saying that i could be lactose intolerant coke? that would suck... but i dont think that's the case, i've been drinking milk forever and i drank milk throught that day and it never got any worse. it's all gone today.

tried to do cleans today but hurt my hand. it's no big deal with anything other than cleaning... once i clean and get the bar to the stopping point on my shoulders a HUGE kink/pain in the middle part of my hand kicks in and it hurts like a BIZZITCH! this happened about 2 weeks ago and i havent cleaned since then so i figured that was enough rest, but it happened right away on my first light set today... anyone know what this is, or how i could prevent it??

    Upright Rows : Ezcurl+50lb 3x10

Cleans : tried them... 135x3, 135x2 had to stop.

Squat : 180x20 woohoo!! legs were already sore from monday plus i ran for 10 mins this morn for PE semester test, but i managed to pull the last few reps off. hardest set by far.

Team Workout : SS 30 sec 35lb DB curls -> 30 sec L's. 3 sets no rest. Actually felt nice on biceps.

Also add I jogged 10 minutes, did 25 pushups and 50 crunches for PE test... not much but the running did tire me.

Hey thanks alot McVein! Thanks for stoppin by man. Had a confidence booster today with a new all-time PR.

Bench : 135x10, 185x5, 205x3, 225x3, 245x1 (old PR), 255x1 new all-time PR! Was all legit, ass was on bench, no hands on bar... took a little while but got it up clean.

Team Workout : Did some stupid medicine ball work that didnt do anything, then did a set of pushups till failure. Think I got about 36 or something. Think I might start running after weights on days we have plyos once this bronchitis goes away.

Thank you Coke. Glad to see I'm improving in something!

Workout for Monday was small, but big... it wasn't 'officially' open so got in there with some buds. Did highest and hardest supersquat set ever.

Squat : 185x20... bolded because it was THE hardest squat set I have ever completed. It took so much of my mind to just keep going, I felt like quitting after rep 12... I think I'm gonna start trying some 4x5 or 4x3 type stuff with heavier weight now.

Today was a pretty good workout... Luhring was there so that was some added motivation.

    Bench : 135x8, 185x5, 205x3, 220x3 nailed, 220x3 nailed, 225x4+1 cheat. Lost form after rep 3 of 225.

    Glute Ham Raise : 3x10

    DB Shoulder Press : 55lb x5, x5, x4 (fail)... wow heavy.

    Close Grip Bench : 135 3x8

Team Workout : Started with some MEAN arm curls... with straight Oly bar, 65 lb total. Did long controlled reps with Luhring... I'd estimate first set was ~20, second set ~15, last set ~10. Grip gave out alot but kept going. Then did some insane L's... 45 sec of each, 30 sec rest in between : normal L's, right hand out, left hand out, right hand left leg out, left hand right leg out. OUCH!!

    Thanks Coke Master.

Great workout today, squat 225 for the first time in a LONG time. Felt nice too! Also did some cleans and was doing well until my hand crapped out again. I would LOVE to know what this is a how to prevent it.

    Clean : 135x3, 155x1, 175x1, 185x3, 185x2 then hand crapped out. God damn!

Squat : 225x3, 225x5, 245x3, 245x3, 275x1 yeeehaw feels nice to do some heavy stuff. I was sure they were all low enough too, and no pad on bar.

    DB Lawn Mowers : 50lb 3x10

Team Workout : SS 30 sec L's to 30 sec wall sits, 3 sets no rest.

Actually worked up a nice sweat today, and the squatting was great. Good motivator today.
