The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

thanks everybody yeah kiaran i'd figure a hammy or something put not a pec haha. oh well, all good now. some friends have found out about my journal so they'll probably make fun of me nonstop and their probably reading right now haha. oh well.

did some nice front squats and some cardio today

    front squat : 135x5, 155x6, 175x5, 195x4, 205x3, 215x2, 225x1 could of done more but saved it for cardio.

cardio : ran with a friend ran some stairs for like 6 mins and then did some sprints. ended it with a killer ~150 yard dash across the hall up a small flight of stairs and across another hall. it was killer! felt nice.

    weighed 185 today

Meh, no worries. I think the journal is pretty bad-ass. Shows your dedication and practice. BTW, killer front squats. I HATE those things. Sounds like a good cardio session too. Anything with stairs added to it is just brutal. When you startin the GPP sessions with the tire and all?

thanks pulse. i hear ya bako.

idk, i always get made fun of for just about everything i do usually. and i guess keeping a journal of your workouts online and getting feedback from a helpful community to make yourself better might be lame to them or something. but who knows maybe theyll actually think it's cool and start one themselves.

Ya it's pretty lame. I guess it depends on what kind of friends you have. I mean, I love my buddies, they'er good guys, but we're all constantly teasing eachother. I know if I found out one of my freinds kept a journal like this I would definately make fun of them hahaha, even though I do the same thing .

A good way to get people to stop making fun of you is to punch them in the face. That isn't a good way to make friends, though.

    haha yeah thats true.

okay workout today. got rushed on bench which i totally hate.

bench : 135x5, 185x8, 205x8, 215x8 was gonna do 225xfatigue but had to change or i'd just mess everything up. wow. i am so tired of this.

    dips to fatigue : 24, 11, 10

glute ham raise : 3x10 felt goood

push press : 135 3x5... would of done more but i was dead after teh bench and dips.

stupid team workout 45lb bench to fatigue 3 sets...

decent plyos afterwords, did 2 useless things but did some good pro agilitys.

Your coach should drop the pretense and have you guys bench broomsticks to failure.

    ^ lol at broomstick presses...

Your bench is becoming a force, dude. Sounds like you are seriously displeased with the way the team workouts are going lately. I would be too. They made you switch off bench when you were on fire? That's messed up. Just curious why you bothered with the set of 215? Anyway, solid workout, dude.

haha yeah its just so lame because our coach is the most stubborn person i know and rather ignorant at that. i did the 215 because if i put on 225 they (the coaches) would probably come up to me and bicker about not doing what the sheet says (195) and complain about how i'm not getting better (by doing 225x8 instead of 195x8? right.) im so tired of this!! after i did the 215 i planned on doing 225 because then i could say i did my 4 sets i was sposed to do already. it's seriously like we're 5 f**king years old.

Seems like "you're not getting better" is a mantra for your coaches. However, as always when you're on a team you gotta do what coach says. Just keep at it and look forward to summer, bro. I bet this time next year you'll be benching in the mid 300s.

Like coke said, they probably are going for general conditioning. Still, it's definately more fun to go for the higher weights!

Look forward to seeing your next lift day.

I dont get why they would want u to do less weight for the same reps. That doesnt make much sense to me. Its like telling me I can do 165x5 but I probably should just stick with 135x5? Id be pissssssed

coke - thanks dude. yea i understand that 85% of the kids are just normal, but there's still the 15% of us that actually know what we're doing and know how to make ourselves better but the coaches just have a hard time understanding that...

kill - haha ya dude thats how it seems. i think once track starts there'll be less of the 'OMG SWITCH NOW' because there'll be about 15 poeple in there instead of 40+. hoping 300 by football

mick - much more fun especially when you know you can hit 20 more lbs for the same amount of reps as your sposed to! thanks.

pulse - i dont get it either. sometimes they jsut watch and talk amongst themselves while me or others are doing it with heavier-than-supposed-to weights but end up not saying anything. (like my 225x9 8 6 last week) ugh who knows.

came in late today from a detention for tardies (haha our spanish teacher counted us tardy for holding the door open for people to come into our class...)

came in on team workout. wall sits 3 sets, decent.

core work. wasnt bad finally changed it up. did medicine ball planks with people hittin the ball, crunches, and medicine ball rotation things.

squat : 135x5, 185x5, 205x8, 215x8... coach was spray painting a power rack directly to my left so the fumes really effed me up in addition to asthma. had to go outside in between sets.

    pullups : 2x15

had to get out cuz of fumes. did some runnin outside. run 2 street down 2 street back. one 70 yard sprint after some rest. calves were crampin

Story about my friends today. So we're standing in a circle talking and somebody says something completely stupid. The group shuts him down and immediately changes subjects and one guy decided to completely just stand in front of him to cut him out of the circle. Haha, mistake. The guy who got shut down got down on his knees and another group member walked forward and pushed the guy back sending him crashing down over the guy on his knees. And one guy wore basketball shorts today and got pantsed at least 10 times haha. Your freinds anything like this? Lol.

Whats the deal with him spraypainting a power rack during your workouts? This just keeps getting worse and worse haha. Next thing your gonna tell me he didnt have the place ventilated either.
