The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Jed, looking good in here. You and I have very similar numbers! I did the 185 x 20 about 3 weeks ago... I might go for 225 x 20 sometime here in the near future.

Bench is looking really good man.

Ha ha, skinning the shins. Ever notice that they never get to heal? I constantly have 3-4 freshly sealed scabs that get ripped off every week during DLs. Time for some high socks!

3x5 @ 315 is awesome Jed. Great effort man!

Nice work dude. 315 has to be getting easier. Losing respect for the 3pps yet on that lift? Haha, you will and then it becomes more dangerous because you'll get lazy with the lift. Just always stay focused, no matter the weight. You should up the weight on that mili, you're making it look too easy now. Do you like those supine rows? I never could get into them. Rear delt raises are boring as hell too. You should give seated DB cleans a shot sometime. If you need help on how to do them I can take a vid of mine sometime. They are way more fun and are probably the only thing that has ever made the backs of my shoulders cramp up.

As for what I meant in my last post, I meant that while yes your arms are big and strong, so are your lats. You want bigger lats though. Lats are huge muscles. They will outlift your arms any day of the week. Your arms may be big for your body, but size doesn't always mean strength and endurance. Your lats can easily outlast your biceps. When I did my huge set of pullups the other day, my arms were rediculously pumped up and so were my lats. But what I could feel more was my arms...because they are naturally the weaker muscles that had to work harder to keep up. Your arms look fine, bro. They aren't too big for your body, just keep pushing forward with your goals. Big lats come with big arms.

flynn - haha yeah bro i know what u mean, and no hairs there either. thanks for the props.

K - not losing respect for it quite yet, it still is a punishing weight. when i can nail a 5x5 @ 315 i will start to increase weight. i will indeed stay focused. sure you can take a vid of the DB cleans, the rear delt raises are boring but do get them burning some. the supine rows are meh for me also, i dont think ill do them much anymore. okay, nice to understand now about the lats. i should stop worrying lol. thanks, man, your always a super help!

borracho - haha idk about SOON, but someday i will! thanks man.

good day today. was gonna do 5x5 bench but a partner got me into going for 1rm instead.

bench : 135x10, 185x3, 225x1, 265x1, 275x1, 285x1, 290x0... kinda did what u suggested keith (i think it was keith) and went with less hits before the attempt. got the 290 up about 8 inches then stalled. no biggy, up 5 from last week.

DB bench : 55 3x10. felt nice, tried to hit pecs

DB flyes : 25 3x8. also felt good on outer part of pecs

handstand pushups : x14, x11, x8. these were AWESOME. 14 surprised me, mighta been a PR.

pushups : 2x12, was drained lol

    DB laterals : 15 3x8

    GHR crunch : 3x10

i think i may of done one other chest/delt thing but forgot about it. overall a nice workout. anyone have exercises that add mass to abdomen? i know spot reduction isnt real, so they need to get bigger.

story... i was heading home on gravel in my truck... and my left front wheel fell off. the WHEEL. not the tire. the whole wheel+tire came off the f**king truck, and i was extremely lucky to keep it between the ditches and extremely lucky no one was oncoming. i was going about 60 and i slid with no control for about 100 yards until the truck finally stopped. my bud from nearby came and got me and we looked at the tracks - at one time i was literally 2 inches from ditching the f**ker.

this is a true drag, because the bearing is lost, the rotor is ruined, disc is ruined, and whole wheel and most likely tire is ruined. this will most likely amount to over $1,500 if our insurance doesnt cover it. i sure hope it does cover it, because i love that truck.

Dude, you could easily get the the 290 bench, you're still doing too much before it... You should have gone from 225 x 1 to maybe 260 x 1 straight to the 290. You would hit it easily.

Sorry to hear about the truck man... Hope insurance takes care of it for you.

Bingo. 260x1 or 250x1 then 275x1 before attempting 290. You would have hit it but take this as a learning experience.

Yeah, weighted reverse crunches hanging off a chinup bar using ankle weights or a dumbbell between your feet FTW!

Another good one is weighted ab tucks. Use a pulley machine... The movement looks like this starting:

Wow jeddy sorry to hear bout the truck. Thats pretty strange that it just fell off... get your tires rotated or changed recently somewhere? (sue the bitches). Your gonna be pullin 405 pretty soon man... Also... do what everyone ^^^ is saying with the bench progression, you will be much stronger doing singles and going for 290 then anything more. Also you wanna know what adds mass to a midsection?! Beer. Beer adds mass to your midsection. So do triple whoppers. And Quiznos. You get what im sayin...

painzer - thanks sir, i will try that next time. ill check out the ab things too.

    coke - thanks bro!

flynn - haha, thank ya man.

keith - hm, thanks. so can i still do the 135x10, and 185x3 sets? those crunches sound very confusing, lol!

indy - thanks man, ill hope for 405 within 6-8 weeks. i mean muscle, not fat. my stomach girth is decent, but i want a big girth with some abs showing also. dont get me wrong, i dont want a little 150 lb abercrombie waist. i just want a big stomach that has some definition.

thanks for lookin out for me from the accident, guys. actually indy, the last time i had my tires worked on was when i myself changed my tires. and my boss drills it in my head to tighten the nuts to the extreme, so i definitely did, especially on my OWN vehicle. so im almost positive that wasnt the cause. we'll probably never know.

good workout today. wasnt planing on workout out, but had to

squats : 135x5, 190x20... oh man, these were painful! form was solid throughout. hands were NUMBER than a hawaiin in antarctica! PR for supersquats i think.

lower back extensions : 3x10. felt good after those squats.

hack squat : 135 3x10. may look weak, but sh** these burned!

thanks my man. the highest i go next time would be 200, but ill probably go with 195. i dont want to jump up too fast, mate. yes i will attempt to get a video, it depends which day. weekdays its chuck full of little freshman running around so it'd probaly get knocked over or stepped on. the hacks definitely sucked lemme tell you, lol!

i lifted w/o compressions today, so that was total suck. it woulda been cool if it was bench day, but it was weird w/ legs. ah well!

not necessarily, but they keep my balls sturdy instead of allowing them to go every which way, along with my dick. i do have a pair of too-small compressions i use for deadlift days though just because they help keep my legs tighter. just like DL briefs, but only 5% as strong :P
