    deadlift specialits?

    Is it possible to enter IPO meets and only deadlift... and maybe squat?

    Or do you have tio do all three?
    Being a strong teenager means nothing.

    My wrists hurt, but some people don't have wrists to be sore. My knees have tendinitis, but some people don't have legs to get tendinitis in. I seem to be going backwards with training, yet some people can't even walk let alone lift 400 pounds on a daily basis.

    Dust out the vagina, and keep on lifting.

    I beleive there is 2 competitions;
    - Bench press only and
    - All 3 combined

    Have a look around the Aussie powerlifting site http://www.powerliftingaustralia.com/

    I just looked at the Sydney results and theres a hole right where I would of competed in the 82.5kg divsion. If I had competed I would of won that division easily. However if I was in any other divsion, I would of being blown out of the water.

    Fuzzy, this chart shows local Sydney results and shows BP only and all 3. Seems you have to learn to bench and swat.

    WABDL has meets where you can compete in DL only. I'm sure other feds do, too. Squat only is much rarer.

    Push-pull meets usually allow you to do one or the other. Full meets you'd generally have to do at least a token SQ & BP.
    A child does not learn to squat from the top down. In other words, he does not suddenly make a conscious decision one day to squat. Actually, he is squatting one day and make the conscious decision to stand. Squatting precedes standing in the developmental sequence. This is the way a child's brain learns to use the body as the child develops movement patterns. Therefore, a child is probably crawling, rocks back into a squatting position with the back completely relaxed and the hips completely flexed, and stands when he has enough hip strength. This approach makes a lot of sense and can be applied to relearning the deep squat movement if it is lost. -Gray Cook
