The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Show me my weak points.

Im a new member here, and have already found lots of info already on here. I have been lifting off and on for the past 4 years, but I have gotten serious about it the past 6 months. I am 5'10 and weigh 175.

    My routine:

    Day 1 Chest and Tri's
    Day 2 Arms,shoulders, and Lat's.
    Day 3 Rest
    Day 4 Legs
    Day 5 Run
    Day 6 Chest and Tri's
Day 7 Arms, shoulders, and Lat's

By the way I am 18 years old.

    Weak points are legs.

Chest, mid and lower back looks non-existant (do more deadlifts)

Working 5 days a week is a bit much, you could probably combine a few of those days into one.

    Do you squat and deadlift?

Why do you have 2 days per week on each upper but only one day for legs?

I dont know whats up with my chest I do flat bench, decline incline, pec dec,and flyes. Im benching 240 I would think my chest should be bigger. As far as legs go I only do leg presses bc I like to stay flexible for long distance running anywhere from 5-8 miles or more. I dont do any squats but I should probably start. I have never done deadlifts except once and I probably used the wrong form bc I had back problems for weeks. Anyone got pics of deadlifting?

It looks to me that your volume is too high. It appears you are doing 5 exs for your chest.
I agree with BF, no need to work up then back down in weight. Keep it short and intense.

I would say chest, traps and back from what I can see are the lagging points.

I would say if you aren't seeing much results from benching perhaps you are using too much arms/shoulders. Here is a good link for proper bench press.

No that is one rep max. I warm up with 1x15 at 135, then I do 1x10 at 185, 1x5 at 205. Then I repeat that by working back down to 135 until failure.

Just to burn it out all the way, by that time my chest is shot. Is that not good?

From what I know, getting the "burn" or not being able to use that muscle after a workout isnt a good indicator to whether you worked it out properly (stimlulate muscle growth and get stronger). It could be the reason why you have a small chest (possibly coupled with bad chest genetics like myself). Overworking yor chest is never a good idea.

I suggest finding a new routine around here, youll have much better progress.

Working your any body part in the manner that you do your chest is not good. Working to failure every workout will lead to CNS shock and will inhibit growth more than anything else. Work in one set range constant for all excercises (not that all of them should be the same, but if you do 1x5 one bench, do ALL your bench sets 5 reps, if you do 1x8 on calf raises do all your sets with 8 reps etc.). If you need to do a chest warmup, do one set of 135, then do your working sets at whatever weight you can do 5 sets of 5 reps at.

If anyone sees errors with what i just said, feel free to correct me.

he just wants all of us to see how big he got with 800 mg of test per week and then talk down to people who are less experienced.

Personally Ricks, i'd start BGB rather than WBB1, i think it will help everything develop much better, especially your back. I've only been on it a week so far, but i like it much better, hopefully it will help my bulk a lot when i'm done with my cut.

I think you look pretty good - traps are a definite weak point, and since there are no pics I'd wager that legs will be too. You also look bigger than 5ft 10, 175 to me so that means your legs will be carrying less of the weight.
