Tried deadlifts the first time yesterday, and all I have to say is, "WOW!" I really do believe everyone needs to do deadlifts. Man do I feel it in my lower back, jeeze. So anyway, how long does this lower back stiffness usually last? It doesn't feel like usual like soreness in the pec or anything, no burning sensation, but I do feel it.
for your first time doing deads, could be up to a week or more, depends how hard you trained
Well, I trained hard. I started with the bar, just trying to practice form. Then I put a couple of 25s on the bar, and did sets of three. Then I put some 45s on the bar, and did MORE sets of three. To be honest, I'm completely spent, not in pain. NOW I know what lifting is all about.
What do you mean some 45's? In your first deadlift session? Am i the only one thinking that he might have injured his lower back?
I'm sure he just means 1 45 on each side. In that case I could have any one pull that their first day with a few pointers. My sister had been doing some Romanian deads in her routine. Only going up to about 95 lbs. She came home one day and I taught her sumo deads. Within 30 minutes she yanked 190 and had a near miss at 200. It's all about learning the technique and then just working hard at it.
