What I wanna know is there a way that you can hit indivduals parts of the quad or not? Becuase I can squat more weight then my trainig partner but he can do more weight on leg extension. But my quads seem to come out more forward and bigger teardrop above the knee and quite rounded. But the side part of his quad seems to bulge out more then the front.Is this all determined by genetics or what?
I don't think this is as muh a genetics question as it is a training question!!(and i don't mean weight training) What i've seen is that your quads develop accordingly to the paticular sports you play when your younger!! Sports that you play lower to the gound liek soccer and rugby will promote the quad to grow from left to right while more explosive jumping sports like volleyball, basketball will promote the muscle to grow front to back!!
Ahhh now you mention it, my mate played alot of football known as soccer in the states while i did alot of martial arts like kickboxing. Anyone else got any opinions?
yeah playing soccer definitely helped your friend out there. I played for 13 years before I ever lifted a weight and my quads were burly. Mista that's an awesome point.
Also Asia, do you know if your body fat is higher then his? Because his quads may look more defined in turn making them look bigger when in reality you have super cool quads under a bit more fat then your bro... just a thought.
yeah he has got a lower bf% lucky for him he's one of them guy's eat's like a horse and has problems getting rid of his 6 pac. But still buts on muscle as quick as me. But i'm cutting at the mo so wish me luck. 18lbs in 2.5 weeks yeah damn that's alot of weight.
Asian, you are forgetting that there are more muscles to the squat than the quads. You probably have either better leverage in the squat due to your specific anatomy, or stronger glutes, or a stronger lower back, or stronger hamstrings, or any combination of the above. Your friend obviously has stronger quads than you, that is all. There really is no way to isolate the individual muscles of the quads, think about it, can you flex only certain potions of your quads, or do all of the muscles contract when you straighten your knee?
Is your friend also taller then you ???? This might make squatting more difficult for him, but extentions easier !!

yeah he is taller then me also. Would you say that squats are a better power movment then as I've been told if you do anything it should be heavy squats?
