The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Fall Out Boy

My soon to be 13 y/o wants the new CD. Honestly is exceptable? I looked at the lyrics somewhat doesn't seem, to bad. As in profanity or over sexual. She's my little girl still, I want her to have some freedom of music and such. I don't go for overly profanity or sexual over tones! Help me out.

Get the latest Rolling Stone mag. They are on the cover and there is a big article about them inside. I don't listen to that stuff, so I can't comment on the music.

Here is a site with all the songs and lyrics for the new cd in 07. Hope this helps. Should be fine for a 13 year old. Just keep her away from rap music lol.

sounds ok, I think kids should be able to listen to most music, as long as you can tell the effect it's having on them.

It's refreshing to see a parent actually taking an interest in thier childs well being.

You seem to be a rare one these days.

When I was 13 I was listening to rock and metal. I guess listening to Guns and Roses has damaged my psyche for life, with all the swears and derogatory depiction of women and stuff. Or something.

These days if I had a 13 year old daugher, I'd be more worried about her hooking up with random boys from her class to give them oral in the washroom (see cnn) than listening to any type of music. My best friend quit his job as a teacher when he caught a pair of 10 year olds having sex in woods by the schoolyard during recess. Now he's a banker and never wants to have a daughter.

Thanks for info big help, she already got the Rolling Stone Mag.lol
Bohizzle exactly I just wanted to make sure, she wasn't listening to overly dark stuff, without me knowing.
8 ball that was a very nice comment. I try my best, I'm lucky to have good kido's.
She's at the age where it's not cool to talk too much with the parents.

Its really light pop emo stuff. No worries at all bill. As already mentioned it is nice to see parental interest in this type of stuff. When I was 13 I only listened to moist and nirvana lol.

Involved without being intrusive is the mix I'll be striving for, too. Of course, I'll be in my 50s by the time I have teenage kids.

    You actually buy music?

Anyways, the new Fallout Boy is fine for a 13 year old. Even if it isn't as good as their old stuff.

If she has a computer at her hands I'll bet she'll find the music even if you don't buy the cd for her. I've listened to it, I don't think it's that bad. You should probably judge for yourself by looking through the lyrics, though.

Education alone will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race." - John Calvin Coolidge

My mom took away my Guns and Roses: Lies tape not because of the language (I had appetite for destruction, after all, without issue) but because there was a naked woman on the cover.

Less than a week passed before I stole the tape back and left the empty case on her dresser where it was.

And living in Germany topless women were in abundance at any beach so I didn't feel deprived.

I hear about 6th graders having sex in classrooms while their peers and teachers (yes, teachers) look on. When I have a daughter(s) I'm going to keep her locked in a tower or something.

Ah...dude, get it straight. The teacher wasn't in the classroom where the kids were. She was in the adjoining room helping other people. I know, because this happened at a school about 5 miles from here and it's been all anyone's ****ing talked about.

I understand and applaud the effort, but realistically, if you've done your job right as a parent, your child won't be affected by teh evil muziks. Even if you did have a problem with it, she'd probably end up getting ahold of it anyway. I grew up listening to dark, evil metal and nasty punk rock and have two degrees, a good paying job, and no criminal record.

Something like Fallout Boy won't do much except foster a taste for bland, prefabricated pseudo-punk.

That teacher that was in the room should be in prison. It's scary what passes for a teacher these days. Not only do you learn next to nothing in public school - you get to watch real life porn too, with teacher approval! If I found out my kid did that I'd cane his ass every week for the rest of his life.

    But, I digress...

I read an article (an extremely suspect one at that) that placed the teacher in the room at the time. My bad.

Also, it was one incident at one school. I remember hearing about two or three others in the last few years, not counting the teachers sexin' up the students. In the grand scheme of things, that's really not that much. You're making it out to be every kid in every school across the country is constantly riding the bonercoaster. That just isn't the case.

i would think the cd would be fine..but do not let her go to a concert. i actualy went to a fall out boy concert, well i went to see hawthorn hights and the all american rejects. but ended up staying for the "main" performance.

Pretty much every sentince out of there mouth was profanity. the bassist even had the crowd (made up of mostly 16 year old and younger,) chant F you , some guy forget the name. They also had an F word counter on the screen showing how many F bombs the bassist said durning the set. I was amazed at the type of language comeing out of the mouths of a band that is marketed to pre highschool kids.

I would deathly afraid if I had a daughter because this day and age almost every girl seems to be very promiscuous and I know how guys think.... and I have a feeling I'd that over-protective father that would scare any boy that came over to the house.

I figure you should keep your kids safe until they know enough to make their own decisions. Nothing wrong with being overprotective with teens. High schoolers don't really understand what's up with sex, drugs, and alcohol, and shouldn't be left to figure it out amongst themselves, because they can harm themselves in ways which are not easy to repair.

Oh, muzak? My Dad had house rulez against anything he didn't think was uplifting/appropriate. I moved out after college, now I listen to Dry Kill Logic, no big deal. Just explain to her that it's a house rule, not a hyoooge moral issue. Some kids develop weird hangups because their parentals make everything a religious/moral issue, so they never learn to enjoy alcohol/tobacco/music/sex responsibly, they just react by either abstaining or bingeing, both of which are suboptimal outcomes.

As far as people who are all "I don't want to have kids because the world is bad," that's silly. It all depends on the parents, and what the overall relationship with the kids is like. All the kids know where to find drugs and sex, but not all of them choose to partake, and the difference is the parents.
