hmm.. Apples, jerky, sunflower seeds, peanuts, chocolate covered grasshoppers(not a joke, try em). You need to really define what tastes good and what tastes bad to you. Some people eat haggis after all..

Define snack. You mean, stuff you just eat mechanically? Or stuff to try to get in extra calories because you're bulking? Or are you cutting and looking for stuff with very few calories?

I believe that when the body is strong, the mind thinks strong thoughts. Time spent away from the Iron makes my mind degenerate. I wallow in a thick depression. My body shuts down my mind.

Peanuts; nonfat non-sugar-sweetened yogurt; non-sugar-sweetened protein shakes; fresh veggies raw with a natural dip, like hummus; nonfat non-sugar sweetened pudding; sugar-free Jello.

If you simply want something mechanical to snack on, Jello is virutally "free" and it tastes good. If you hate the texture, pudding made with skim milk provides clean calories and tastes good. Those are the two foods I use as my sweet treats.

A lot of it is just breaking the addiction to junk food. After a prolonged period of a strictly enforced diet, you will lose the desire to consume fatty foods with processed sugars and the like. They simply stop tasting good to you because you're no longer accustomed to eating them, just like healthy foods don't taste good to you right now because you aren't accustomed to eating them.

This can take a while. It took me six months. Don't let this discourage you. Adopt the mindset that you are changing yourself FOR LIFE. This is for you... FOR LIFE. Whatever small sacrifice it takes initially, the lifelong benefits are well worth it. Kiss the typical American diet goodbye... You won't miss it.

If it seems difficult, take 5 minutes a day to keep a nutritional journal. The journal is a great way to keep your personal nutrition and fitness goals in sight at all times. The number one killer of diets is when people lose sight of WHY they are dieting in the first place! is a great resource, and you don't have to be OCD to use it. You just have to be serious about reforming your diet, and tap into that for motivation.
