    Drinking and Cramps

I was wondering what you guys think of this.

Everytime I drink a lot I always get massive cramps in my right calf ALWAYS its almost a promise.

Last night when I went to bed after coming home from the pub I knew I was going get a cramp in my right calf it was going wake me up and it was going hurt like hell.

Well it happened, it hurt like hell (scared the crap out of my mom too cause she was in my room putting my laurdy away when it hit)

Is there anyway to avoid this (besides the obvious answer which is to not drink in the first place)

I'd guess dehydration. Drink more water before bed.

Yea, I had about .5 liter of water or close to it when I went to bed.

Mom says the same thing, and shes eat a banana too. I'll start doing that.

I would say your not drinking enough water throughout the day...and when you drink alcohol, you get extra dehydrated. As for the gatorade...that's what I drink when I wakeup. It helps with hangovers.

yeah, if you're taking creatine as well, you'll increase the risk of cramping especially if you dehydrate yourself by drinking a lot. nothing else you can do but make sure you rehydrate

Potassium deficeincy. Eat a banana a day and they go away. Have suffered from the same problem but not in association with drinking. Has worked for others that I know of.

The same thing recently happened to me. I fell out of bed at 4 AM, writhing in pain.

I'm telling you, bananas work. A banana a day keeps the calf cramps away. Some of the most painful experiences of my life have been those calf cramps. Feels like the muscle is ripping right off the bone. I eat about 5 bananas a week now and haven't had one in a couple years. When I stopped my daily banana the cramps came back.

I used to get calf cramps all the time and it was caused by my lack of calcium. Taking an extra calcium pill a day has solved this issue. It has been proven that alcohol inhibits the absorption and metabolism of calcium. I don't know your body so I can't claim to know what will fix it. I suggest trying the different suggestions given here until you find the solution for you. Water, banana, calcium (drink a glass or milk or pop a pill) all sound like great ideas.

Same here. Standard post-party food is a banana and some water.

Could be any of a number of reasons, the alcohol in beer will dehydrate you, particularly strong beer, which I think Germany is famous for. Drink a glass of between each beer and drink more water before going to bed.

I think everyone is wrong. The answer is obviously to do your own laundry.

Don't come home and rack out right away. Stay up for awhile and down some water and a banana as mentioned.

100% legal to drink in Germany.

And i'm not your typical binge drinker Most weekends I drivne 4-5 beers throughout the weekend.

In fact i'm not even going out to the pub, even though i've been offered buddy wanted to go with me.
