The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Built - Haha, thanks. Well... I'm thinking it would involve more isolation movements and slightly higher reps. I still wanna stick to the main compounds and go powerlifting style with those, but I want to do the rest of the stuff bodybuilding style. I've never actually even looked into bodybuilding so I really have no idea. Do you know what I should do? I'm doing some research right now myself.

SupRsmall - Thanks, I really don't want to give it up but there's somethin messed up in my ham/glute. It hurts pretty bad when I squat. I'm gonna try and continue if it goes away. And the bench pretty much sucked since I can't lift off heavy weights by myself, and I'm to scared to try extra reps w/ no spotter.

Can'tstop - Thanks man, but beware cuz it's not fun haha.

First thing I'd get a handle on would be diet if you're gonna do the BB route. Powerlifters who cut up like bodybuilders have THE best physiques IMO - but you need to know how to eat.

    You track on fitday yet?

I did some through May 21 - May 26 and the averages were...

    3,650 calories
    150g protein
    305g carbs
    210g fat

And I was gaining. Pretty fast I guess.

Bah don't worry about that damn deadlift, you're already slavin' your ass for the almighty squat! Finish this Smolov cycle, and then worry about your deads.

    HELP!

Summer's killin me. Again! You guys have only known me for a couple months. Let me tell you about a little about me... before WBB.

I was a freshman, with a 95 lb bench press. This was very impressive, haha, atleast to my fellow freshies. I worked all year, curl jokey style, and moved my bench up to about 205, horrible form. Then summer came along. I stopped woking out completely and went down to about 155. (bench press was the only thing I cared about at this point.) Went back to school to hear people say "omg! where'd ur muscles go! what happened!" I restarted and over the year I worked my way up to 235. By this time i was doing legs, leg press style, and had a squat max of about 205. Summer came along and I promised myself to go back to school the next year lookin hyoooge. Well... I stopped working out all together. Bench went down to 185. Went to school and got the same reaction. "what happened!? get off the roids? blah blah blah" Well, I worked and worked, and got my max back up to 235. I was squatting some at this point. This is when I discovered WBB. Well, summer is here again. I don't know what it is about summer, but I have no interest in going to the gym. Atleast this year i have a car and I'm atleast going. I don't know what to do... btw, my weight was 147 today. We got a new electronic scale at my gym. And yes, i quit the smolov sh**. maybe if i weren't being such a pu*** I would keep going. But right now, I can barely work out, let alone take on the scariest routine ever. Sorry guys.

Bako my man, you and I are in the same position! I always fall apart during the summer, I have NEVER had a successful summer at all. I go in the gym and don't even want to work out, I do one core lift and maybe an auxilary and I feel totally wiped and have no more drive to do anything. The only time I feel good is when I went to my friends dads gym yesterday, I even felt so good as to set a new PR...

Just keep goin in and liftin man, keep tryin to eat good and try ur best! Summer'll be over here soon enough...

maybe a "low hanging fruit picking" routine would suit you well... its what I'm doing right now. If its motivation you need... then maybe it would help you keep the interest.

    Solid liftin my man.

Summer is tough to keep focus. All I feel like doing most of the time (especially weekends) is drink, party look for girls, sleep and drink some more. Maybe take a week off and enjoy yourself. If you come back after the week of no discipline, then you will be ready to give it hell again.
