The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

what body parts to measure to make sure progressing?

i am going to bulk this summer, but i can't mess up all that much because i already have alittle too much fat, but i am sick of cutting.
which is why i would like to know what are some good body parts to measure and how to measure them to make sure i am progressing and adding weight in all the right places. this will help keep me motivated and also let me know i am doing everything right. i have a list of body parts i think i should measure, but can anyone think of others?

    chest
    arm
    waist
    hips
    thighs

for the above list, whats the best way to measure each? for example, for chest, do i just measure the largest circumference, or do i go under the arm pits?
for measuring the wasit, is that around the belly button, or would that be under the gut?
as you can see im confused on the exact location of each to measure.

any websites or diagrams that show how its all done?

id really appreciate help on this
[side note, i will be taking bf measurements with my calipers]

Arm - Widest point. (flexed and relaxed)

    Waist - I don't.

    Hips - Widest point.

Thighs - Widest point. (flexed and relaxed)

    Abdomen - At naval.
