I'm 16 years old and i have varsity football coming up in 4 months. My coach told everyone that if you can't bench(max) your own weight then you cant be on the team and your cut. Im 5'11'' and weigh 165. Last time i tried maxing I could only max 135. Is it possible for me to be benching 165 by august 20th. If so then I need some good advice on what excercises to do to get my chest to pump 165lbs.

Do you have a routine?
You familiar with...
incline bench, decline bench, close grip bench
using dumbbells periodically instead of a bar really help strengthen
If you are new to lifting I think it will be feasible...
heavy benching is a lot of technique also...
use the search to look up technique of bench press on this forum
30 lbs in 4 months should be cake. Look up proper form on google and youtube. Study on how to make your lower back arch. That's atleast 15 lbs right there. Next make a routine and post it up here. Bench twice a week, use low reps in the 4-6 range. I wouldn't be surprised if you were benching atleast 185 by your deadline.
