You can use it to warm up. Otherwise, stay away from it.

If you do use it you would need to eat even more.
If you want to do cardio for overall health, go for it. Just don't overdo it and make sure you eat even more to compensate for the loss while doing cardio. Personally, I'd rather do sprints outside for cardiovascular health as opposed to a treadmill.
