The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Yeah, the SSB was a great investment for me. GM's are great with it, much more comfortable (especially chain suspended ones) and feel like they target my hams better. You feeling beat up from the meet?

Yeah I've done a bit of GM work with the SSB and cambered bar and its much more comfortable than the straight bar.

I'm feeling pretty good now, my back was pretty sore up until yesterday.

Little bit tired today but it was a decent session. I'll do some sled work after tomorrow's session and start adding back a bit of cardio.

Next week it looks like Floor presses, then I'm gonna get back in the shirt for a couple weeks after that.

Those goodmornings tore my back up...I'm off to eat some steak

Not excited about squatting back on the lame squat rack or walking the squats out 10 steps back to say the least, haha

Starting to look for businesses with basements, and things like that I could rent out month to month because I'm close to purchasing a monolift. After that I plan on buying equipment piece by piece until I don't need a gym membership anymore.

Just a thought. We could maybe set it up in my garage and that would be free....also have that full basement sized crawl space under that house....if I could run electricity and level the dirt floor out and lay down some mats that would make a cool gym.....you should come check it out. I would go in on getting some equipment too...Maybe vicki would be interested too.

You'd have to pave that basement for sure.

I'm looking for a place I can call my own, go pull the sled when I want, put whatever I want on the walls, act how I want, etc. I'm not going to feel right unless I have a place just like I want. The rent wouldn't be a huge deal, I'm looking to have the place a year, maybe a year and a half before I move.

I have a few places in mind to check with

I really feel like if one more employee says something to me I'm going to give him a piece of my mind, and I don't want that to happen haha

Nice work in here. Don't think I've ever seen micro-minis. I'm liking the shrugs, too.

How tall are you? A 14" box is right around where I need to be to pass a squat.

Training partner was using them for speed bench so I jumped in, thought I'd see how I liked em.

I'm 6'3. If I learned to sit back more I could squat to a bit higher box. Me and Brent squat to the same box height, and I think he's 6 spaces below me on the monolift at the gym. His form is just perfect, and he never misses a squat because of depth. I've seen him miss once, and it was because he sat too far back and fell backwards at the top

Seriously, one of the best ways to fix that is every time you sit down, think about it. When you sit down at home, when you sit in a chair at school, at work, whatever. It'll start to help you to think about it when you squat

This is seriously true. It sounds funny but sitting down (back) on the toilet has helped my squat form tremendously. Also, great journal. I have learned a lot from following your training.

I swear I was just about to post this after reading Travis's post. Sometimes I sit down on the toilet and I'm like, "Damn, came loose in the hole on that one" LOL

    ME Squat/dl

Went back over to Manning's gym for a change of scenery

    Parallel box squats:
    *briefs*
*add purples choked around 2 DB's*
    bands x 5
    135 x 3
    *add mini's choked around 2 DB's*
    135 x 3
    225 x 3
    275 x 1
    315 x 1
    *suit bottoms*
    335 x 1
    365 x 1
    405 x 1

    more on these later

Conventional deads againsts DBL'd minis, standing on 2 inch deficit:
    135 x 3
    225 x 3
    255 x 3
    *belt*
    275 x 3
    295 x 3

    Farmers walk:
    100 lb DB's x 80 yards
    100 lb DB's x 60 yards

    GHR's:
    BW x 3 x 8

The squats felt pretty good, I was able to take my normal stance and sit wayyy back. I felt it in my glutes and hams pretty good. We got some good tension out of the bands, Donna used the minis so I decided It'd be easier to leave the minis on and throw on the purples when it was my turn. We used a 100 lb DB and a 90 lb DB on each side, and the dumbbells would move around slightly when I un-racked, so the tension was probably similar to a green or something, who cares.

Considering I didn't have any spotters, my feet were on half wood and half whatever platforms are made out of, and I walked them out I was pretty happy with 405 with that tension.

Planned on doing rack pulls against quad minis, but there was no way to set this up at this gym, so I did pulls against bands standing on blocks. It was good lockout work, the bands kicked in at the top because we had em stretched out pretty far apart.

One for the books, messed around today a bit. I'll be back at Cell Block next week.

I've always been awful at floor presses, but I think I'm coming loose right before my elbows are touching the floor. Kinda like when someone is box squatting and they plop down on the box. 230 went up fast but I didn't even come off the floor with 235. If I keep tight I have more in the tank.

Gonna get back in the shirt next week, maybe a 2 board, who knows.

Sat in the sauna trying to get some of this drainage out of my head from my last sinus infection. My nose and sinuses are just about 100% cleared out, but I'm coughing up some nasty stuff and one of my ears is clogged.

On the flip side, Donna has a new boyfriend at the gym. He's a 50 year old black man and today he was kind enough to wear skimpy shorts that exposed half his ass crack and a size small under armor shirt.
