The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Have you tried the squatmornings?

Bring your stance in about an inch each foot next time you squat and see if that helps with the leaning.

Put suit bottoms on, straps down if you can for DE squat

Where do you ride the bar on your back?

My training partner used to fall forward alot in the hole, we brought his bar position up higher and the problems went away. Ive also found that if i ride the bar high on my traps i can stay perfectly upright in the hole. Might not work for you, but may be worth a try.

Actually this is a very good point!

Sometimes when guys go from using a regular bar, to a Mastadon bar or it's equivalent, they can't keep the bar as low on their back as they normally would because it's so much thicker it doesn't sink into your back as much, which in turn causes it to roll ever so slightly down the back at the beginning of the squat.

Good point Selk, forgot about that!

Tried the squatmornings once. They are what I need though, I'll do them Thursday. I'll film them as well.

I'll put the suit bottoms on for my speed work...of course its going to take a bit more weight

I've been going pretty wide with my squats to try and make up for my leverages, I'll bring it in a bit and see what happens.

I've experimented with different bar positions, normally I stick with a pretty low bar position, but after watching a video of Luke squat I noticed his bar position is very high and he stays nice and upright. I tried it once at Cell Block and the same thing happened when the weight got heavy.

These are all awesome points, I've thought about the squatmornings and the bar position, but never really considered the stance.

Yeah, it's OK if you need to use a little more weight on DE day. I think one of the problems may be hip position and you're not really used to the suit and the position it puts your hips in.

So bring the stance in a little, move the bar up a tad and we'll see what happens.

LOL, yeah, I've just started to keep track in here with my PR's. I keep em in my head but thought I'd put em in here to show progress

I guess that was a PR on the pin presses since I think I've done them twice ever

    Gravity crunch:

    40 lbs x 10

Had a protein shake, came home and did this:

    *All in grass*

Sled drags, 4 trips non stop

    Pull throughs, 2 trips

Sled drags, 4 trips non stop w/more weight

    Pull throughs, 2 trips

Squats felt much better. I wrote down a bunch of stuff on my forearm to remember and looked at it every time before getting under the bar. I carried the bar pretty high up on my traps, it was uncomfortable and will take some getting used to. I stayed upright, which is good. Just simple little things like looking straight up, etc. I squatted inside the rack so there was only so far I could take my stance out. There was no way I was getting my suit bottoms on by myself, so I'll add those in next dynamic squat session.

    DE Bench

    Chaos bench:
    bar x a lot
    hanging 25's x 5
    hanging 45's x 5
    hanging 45's x 5
    hanging 45's and hanging 25's x 3
    hanging 45's and hanging 25's x 3
    hanging 45's, hanging 25's, and hanging 10's x 3

    Things got pretty chaotic, haha

    JM press:
    65 x 10
    95 x 10
    135 x 10

    These felt EASY

    DB press:
    60's x 10
    70's x 10
    70's x 10

    Tate press:
    35's x 10
    40's x 10
    45's x 10

    Bell rows:
    2 plates x 10
    2 plates x 10
    2.5 plates x 10

    Pulldowns:
    110 x 10
    120 x 10
    130 x 10

2 sets on the reverse pec dec, before it broke...quality equipment

Decent session, it was nice to have someone to train with again, haha. Things have been pretty chaotic around here with the kitchen remodel we're doing, guys coming and going, etc. They put down hard wood floors today.

I'll do my max effort lower session tomorrow, deadlifts followed by some squat mornings. Thursday I leave for boca grande so I can catch THIS:

I'll see if I can't find somewhere to bench down there, I'll be back Thursday for max effort lower. I'm very focused right now, so with this break I should be ready to kill it when I come back.

The trick is going to be eating and drinking enough to keep my bodyweight up in the sauna like conditions of Florida!

Haha, have fun fishing Lones. We went to Wal-Mart my last day in Florida and bought a cheap pole and a crab trap and I ended up catching a few catfish in the Gulf, and a mystery fish that was a decent 8lbs. Good times.

Thats the way it started, but all I have is plates so I have to compensate.

That sounds really cool. I used to get my training partner to slap the bar repeatedly as it was coming down to get my lats in on the action, but that sounds like it would tear **** up!

    ME squat/dl

    Sumo deads off the floor:
    185 x 5
    275 x 1
    *king bottoms*
    275 x 1
    325 x 1
    365 x 1
    415 x 1
    455 x 1
    *straps up*
    505 x 1
    *suit off, big briefs on*
    415 x 1

OUTTA AIR! Its gonna have to be back to pulling in the pro squatter, I'm too damn big for my deadlift suit. By the time I got to the bar I was out of air. It worked perfect about ~290 but now the legs are just too tight

    Squatmornings:
    bar x 5
    135 x 2
    225 x 2
    *belt*
    315 x 2
    315 x 2
    315 x 2

Liked em, be nice to do them off chains though

    Reverse hypers:
    1 plate x 10
    2 plates x 10
    3 plates x 10
    3.5 plates x 10

    Spread eagle situps:
    bw x 10
    +25 plate x 10
    +25 plate x 10

    Hip abduction:
    stack x 10
    stack x 10
    stack x 10

My strength is going up, that suit is just unreasonably small. My pro squatter has velcro straps so pulling in it should be fine.

Found out there's a World Gym close to my hotel with a power room, forza's and monolifts, etc
