The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Nice dude! Do you do any other strong man lifts? I've always thought they are pretty damn hardcore.

red- thanks dude, i'm trying to work with my monkey arms.

stump- yeah, its nice to walk inside and make a huge shake after you're done working out.

jrod- not too many, i've got the keg, the stone thats somewhere between 265-275, i need a couple lighter ones. i do a little strongman stuff in the gym like farmers walks. i'm working on a whole strongman/GPP backyard, i think my next project is gonna be going to the junkyard and construction some kind of farmers walk, maybe like 200 lbs in each hand, who knows.

    Pulls

rack pulls, as low as the pins go:
    135 x 6
    225 x 6
    315 x 6
    365 x 4
    405 x 4
    455 x 3
    495 x 1
    545 x 1
585 x 0, kind of psyched myself out of this. i think i had it in me. if my legs weren't so damn long i'd have a monster DL.

    DB rows:
    80's x 6
    90's x 6
    120's x 6

    cable rows:
    100 x 8
    140 x 6
    200 x 6

    face pulls:
    100 x 6
    120 x 6
    140 x 6

workout was good. never gone that heavy on rack pulls, but today i was in the zone. the pins were probably 3-4 inches below my knees. thats about it, so far its been a pretty good week.

jrod- you're exactly right. while you're in knoxville, try moe's on campus (get a joey with extra meat, you wont regret it) and mr gattis pizza buffet...its not on campus, but its not too far from it. these are my 2 staples when i go out to eat!

    dynamic bench

this workout kinda turned into random stuff/BB workout with one of my friends.

    bench:
    bar x 10
    135 x 20
    135 x 20
    185 x 10
    185 x 10

    DB extension:
    35's x 10
    45's x 10
    55's x 10

    pushdowns:
    30 x 10
    50 x 10
    80 x 10

    grappler press:
    bar x 10
    add 25 plate x 10
    add another 25 x 10
    add a 10 x 10

    delt raises and bicep curls.

okay workout, havent worked out with this guy in a long time. he can bench like 350 completely raw, no wrist wraps or anything, and hes under 220. i keep trying to get him to powerlift, hes comin to the meet this weekend with me and 2 other friends. hopefully i can find some dudes to workout with, even if i have to commute an hour or 2.

    SQUATS

Oly squats, just me and the weight, ATF:
    bar x 10
    135 x 8
    135 x 8
    185 x 6
    225 x 6
    275 x 6

switch to ultra wide PL stance:
    275 x 6
    315 x 6
    365 x 3
    405 x 1
    425 x 1 finally ****in got this!
    435 x 1 YES!!!!

    DB lunges:
    40's x 5 reps each leg
    70's x 5 reps each leg

    leg extensions:
    stack x 2 x 6

did some abs and calves and i was done. i nailed those squats today, 405 went up just like i was squatting 225, and the form on 425 was perfect. i felt really good tonight, even though i wasn't really expecting to nail a new PR after those Oly squats, those tear my ass up. awesome week for me, i leave tomorrow to head up to the meet, hopefully ill bring back some pics for you guys. have a good weekend everyone.
