Solid deads, bud. That pull against all the band tension must've been nuts.

Deadlifts looked really easy, are you using a deadlift bar for them? I think you are going to smoke 585lbs come contest time.

That gym looks like somewhere that would not welcome me haha.

You certainly made those pulls look easy peasy! And was that Vikki's camera? Nice work! Also loved reading your entry about the gym highlights... most entertaining.

No, and thats something I took into consideration. My PR is 545 with a deadlift bar, that was a crap commercial gym bar. If you look, you'll see I had quarters on the inside before the plates to keep me from smashing my toes

He could for sure, but after squatting/benching sometimes its not a bad idea to take a light opener, i did that for quite a few meets and it was fine.

I think most people only really have 2 good pulls in them, the amount of people who actually get a 3rd deadlift seems pretty small at most meets. You can either do the first 2 lifts heavy, or the last 2 it seems. Lones may be different because he is far more conditioned then most powerlifters.

All this talk about picking meet attempts etc is making me wish more meets where close to me!

Yes sir. My stance is about the width of a normal power bar, so I put the quarters on there first so I don't lose toes

Yeah, thanks for the input. 500 ought to be cake, my 545 with a deadlift bar moved as fast as those. I've pulled 500 about 8,000 times now

Thought about my openers a lot this time around, and my thought process was similar to the one posted. I like to open light as hell on all my lifts, big jumps don't screw with me.

I was talking to Lou at that last meet I did and we were talking about just this. He told me when he squatted 920, he opened in the 700's. Some people can pull it off, and some big jumps mess up.

There's nothing like blowing up your opener like its nothing though, no matter what the weight is. Its a huge mental plus for me

If I can pull 600ish right now, 500 will be a breeze. My 2nd will be a PR, so if something happens and I don't have 585 in me that day, I at least have a PR. After my first 2, I'll be able to pick what weight I want to go to for my 3rd judging by how I feel

But yeah, hopefully all this volume I've been doing will help out with my endurance towards the end of the meet.

With this selection of weights, I should be able to nail each of them. I've just never been too good with opening at 85-90%, I'm smoked by the 2nd or 3rd pull if I do that. Plus I'd rather save a bit for next time

    ME Bench

    *warmup*

    Bench, comp grip:
    bar x 20
    135 x 5
    185 x 3
    225 x 1
    *add 2 board*
    225 x 1
    265 x 1
    285 x 1
    300 x 1 (5 lb PR)
    315 x 1 20 lb PR)
    335 x 0, lost tightness @ the top

    Close grip floor press:
    195 x 10
    195 x 10
    195 x 8
    195 x 8

    Tate press:
    30's x 10
    35's x 10
    40's x 10

    Face pulls:
    120 x 10
    140 x 10
    180 x 10

    1 arm DB row, strict:
    80's x 10
    100's x 10
    100's x 10

CSR shrugs, 5 x 15, whatever weight Donna was using for rows

    Neck, 5 x 20

Got kinda greedy with the last set of the 2 board. I was pulling my shoulder blades together so hard and felt so tight today, by that set, they just told me no more towards the top. Not a strength issue, probably wasn't the best idea. Should have taken the 20 lb PR and said my blessings.

LMAO. I had the same problem on the weekend in another gym, I had the bar on the highest pegs and had to walk it out past the rack to get my feet out wide enough.

    Hope you SFW brother.
