The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

I've got a little bit of room to go on the weighins. I'm sittin right at 258-260 on a normal day, although I can't afford to have my gear fit too tight

Today marks day 1 of the "1 lb of meat per day" program. I'll be doing this every day until the meet, plus drinking 2 servings of Results a day the week before the meet.

I used to do it with turkey, chicken, and ground beef and its what finally got me over the 300 lb when I was 19 or so. This is of course in addition to all the calories I'm normally taking in.

An extra 100g of protein every day...

    Just so you know, my breakfast this morning;

    3 Fillet mingons
    6 hash browns
1 Carton peach juice (+ half dozen scoops of protein powder)
    1 bowl of cereal.
    Toast.

New job = This, every morning. That must be expensive for someone who has to pay for it.

Haha, why would you throw 6 scoops of protein in there

I needed extra protein, LOL. Didn't feel like cooking eggs with it.

Tonight, 2 250g Peppered scotch fillets and a few sundried tomato and garlic sausages. I heavily considered cooking these at the gym, but there may be a fight over it. 400lbs eh? O.o;;; I hope my metal gear stretches as much as yours.

Winding things down still, fast paced for some volume, but nothing at all hard. I hit a squat opener tomorrow at Cell Block, we'll see what I come away with. I'm thinking 550, but it may take me a bit more weight to get down in the hole good.

So when I put my straps up again, the same thing happened as last time. Got about halfway down and it felt like someone was shutting off my brain. I'm used to pressure, but this was different. Brent told me to wear my belt a little lower, and this solved everything. It was a simple problem, couldn't get my air. Not sure what I'd do without that old bastard

550 will be the opener. It was just stupid how fast it moved tonight.

Horse electrolytes and yams. Thats whats missing here.

I went to to a stock feeder today and asked about some. The guy asked what breed I was looking after and I said it was for me. He just looked at me and said, "Its next to then Clen."

I just didn't know what to say!

I've had the same type of situation though, I dislocated my patella on my right leg, and it went out, to the right. Doc said the outer part of my quad was much stronger than then inside. He also suggested surgery to tighten things up, which I didn't take.

What helped me a ton was doing terminal knee extensions every day with a band, as well as some other knee rehab/VMO strengthening movements I threw in before training. Getting a low box and putting one foot on it, and touching the opposite heel to the ground, then coming back up is another good one for the VMO. (if that wasn't clear, PM me and I'll detail my description more)

I'm not a narrow stance Oly squatter either, the only direct quad work I do is some hack squats with my feet way out in front of me, more VMO work. You've got a good bit of pressure on your patella tendons when you squat Oly style

You'll get some quad work and some benefit from sled pulling if you do that

I know Lou suggests the following for knee trouble: Sled pulling, Leg curls with ankle weights, and calf strengthening.
Thanks for the detailed response in Travis' thread. From my PT sessions, I did the TKEs and heel touches standing on a low box, so I'll continue to do those. I also got ankle weights because of all the stuff I see you do with them, so I'll do leg curls with the ankle weights nightly too. I think I'll continue to squat narrow, but I'm going to take it slow and continue to do stuff for my right knee. I've also decided to do much more single leg work so that this doesn't happen again. I've reposted a video of me squatting in my journal if you get a chance and want to check it out (not the last page but the one before). Thanks again though and good luck at the meet because you've worked hard and it will all pay off.

    That sounds like a plan.

Your squat doesn't look bad, just make sure you're keeping your chest up and a tight arch. You look a bit loose and squirrely, make sure you're taking a big breath in your belly and staying super tight. I'm not 100% sure of your goals, but I would take my stance out just a little more. That should make it easier for you to sit back.

Keep at the knee stuff, its something that will bother you on and off
