The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    DE Bench

    *warmup*

    Bench:
    bar x 20
    95 x 10
    135 x 5
    185 x 15
    190 x 12
    190 x 9
    190 x 10
    195 x 8

Got a little carried away and took about 45 second rests. I learned real quick that doesn't cut it with the rep work, LOL. Lesson learned

    Incline DB press:
    30's x 25
    50's 10
    60's x 10
    60's x 10
    40's x 15

    Seated Military Machine:
    50 x 10
    50 x 10
    50 x 10
    50 x 10
    50 x 10

I'll stick to raises or DB military, machine was awkward

    Face pulls:
    100 x 20
    120 x 10
    140 x 10

    DB extensions:
    30's x 12
    30's x 12
    30's x 12

    Tate press:
    30's x 10
    35's x 10
    35's x 10

    Neck, 4 x 25

My guess for my reps for the bench was right on, I'm just going to have to take a bit more rest between sets. I'm not used to the reps at all, I'm used to cranking out 3 fast reps every minute or so. Hypertrophy is the goal right now though.

It'll be back in the 'ol commercial gym tonight for back work. As much as I hate to say it, they have a very wide variety of things I can do for back

2 more finals Wednesday, then I'm done for a bit!

    PM Session

One arm barbell rows, weight not including bar:
    25 x 15 each arm
    45 x 10 each arm
    55 x 10 each arm
    55 x 10 each arm

    1 arm DB row, strict:
    70's x 20
    110's x 8
    *straps*
    130's x 8
    130's x 8

    CSR:
    1 plate x 15
    1.5 plates x 10
    2 plates x 10
    2.5 plates x 10
    1.5 plates x 15, close grip

    Wide grip pulldowns:
    110 x 10
    130 x 10
    150 x 10

    Close grip seated cable rows:
    120 x 15
    160 x 15
    180 x 10

    Shrugs:
    135 x 25
    225 x 15
    *straps*
    315 x 15
    365 x 15
    225 x 25

    DB extensions:
    20's x 60
    20's x 40 - 100 reps

2nd session of the day, I'm not sure what it was but the weights all felt super light. The DB's seem much lighter at the commercial gym.

Probably could've gone without the straps if I would have had some chalk, but I didn't. Oh well, the goal is hypertrophy for the back.

We'll see how I feel tomorrow, haha. Boy am I sure looking forward to getting these finals over with.

Thanks to Vikki for letting me train at the commercial gym!

Nice volume with the two sessions Lones! Good luck with exams too. I took my last one this morning and it felt nice to finish. I still can't believe school is almost over for me. Keep up the good work man!

Good sessions in here big man. Definitely getting stronger on bench than last time I checked in. And GL with finals, too. I finished mine yesterday morning. It's a wonderful feeling.

    +40 lbs x 8

    Leg extensions:
    80 x 20
    100 x 20
    110 x 20

Pretty good session, took a bit setting up the bands and the blocks. No problems at all with the squats, form felt very consistent and none of the reps were slow. With walking them out, I decided to just stick with 8 work sets instead of something heavy. The way the greens were set up were about the same tension as a choked blue.

I'll be @ Cell Block next week, and whatever we do I'm down for. A break from the straight bar would be nice, but then again, I wouldn't mind putting the suit on either

You're such a RAWWW! whore. Solid work today. I'm not looking forward to walking out heavy weight plus bands soon.

LOL, hardly a Raw whore. Maybe on bench, but I use wrist wraps, so it's actually "classic powerlifting"

I like my suit too much, haha

    Walking out bands sucks.

You destroyed 600!!! Sometimes the hardest thing is just waiting that one extra second for the up call. You definitely had more than 650 in you to depth. At least next meet you can confidently open with 600+.

Thanks Chris, I feel like I had more in the tank as well. Come August 700+ will fall.

My belt was on the first hole, wraps were loose, and the straps were super loose on all those attempts as well.

Squat form looks very good to me. Looks like you are really arching hard, thats hard to do under heavy weights.

Will be nice to get more time in the gear before you next meet. I dont see a reason not to have your gear jacked as much as possible You are a big dude, tons of potential to go far in powerlifting i think.

Squats looked great man! That 550 was a freaking joke. I'm surprised you even got to depth with it! Great job bro.

Will be nice to get more time in the gear before you next meet. I dont see a reason not to have your gear jacked as much as possible You are a big dude, tons of potential to go far in powerlifting i think.
Yeah, if I don't arch hard then I lean like hell.

I was in that suit a total of 3 times before that meet, LOL. Once I passed out in it, once I walked 455 out in it and squatted it a few times, and the last time I took 550 3 times.

When the meet rolled around I was just getting used to the heavier weights in the suit. Before I was in briefs only, and still strong, just not used to the weights. All the doubles with the cambered bar and chain squats really blew up my strength levels.

Thanks for the compliments. It may sound silly, but I'm determined to get to the top one day
