The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    de bench

    speed DB leg up bench:
    35's x 5
    45's x 5
    55's x 5
    45's x 5
    35's x 5

got a good stretch on these, i haven't cared too much about BP, but i'm going to start working my actual chest and shoulders more, those are my 2 weak points.

    JM's:
    bar x 10
    95 x 10
    135 x 8
    185 x 8

    pushdowns w/mini:
    30 x 8
    50 x 8
    70 x 8

    overhead DB press:
    40's x 8
    40's x 8
    50's x 8
    60's x 8

    grappler press:
    bar x 10
    +25 x 6
    +50 x 6
    +60 x 6

took a video of the grappler press, my friend let me borrow his camera to take some vids with. my videography sucks, all you can see is the weight and my arm, haha. i had to put a plate on the dip bars and sit the camera on it. the most challenging part of getting a video is gonna be setting it up somewhere thats a good shot. i'm about to call elite and see what size suit i should get, then i'm gonna order it. SQUATS TOMORROW!

hahaha. just tryin to mix it up a bit. true dat on the shoulders, my friend my size has torn both labriums, and he has way weaker triceps than i do, i think that was the problem. i called elite and the guy i talked to said to get a 56. i talked with this old guy i trust today, and he said i should get a 58. 56 was out of stock, so i got a 58. should be okay, if its way too big i guess i can send it back. if worst comes to worst, i will compete in a heavier weight class. as your sig says, i'm not trying to compete for a trophy. the guy at elite also was very suprised when i told him i was going for 259. i dont know, losing weight is DEFINETELY not my thing. thats one of the reasons i picked up powerlifting, i don't care about my weight, want to push myself physically and mentally, and i want to move as much weight as i possibly can.

Good call bro. Just be a SHW and be healthy. Don't shoot for 400, just stay 300 and you'll be fine. I'm most comfortable at 300-308. When I got my first v-type, I was just over 300 and it was a 58. I still use it today. It's nice and snug in the hips, which is awesome for sumo pulling and wide squats. The straps might be a tad loose, but I seem to like them loose. You're taller than me, so it should fit nicely. This suit does not have to be super tight to be effective. I can get my 58 on in about 20 seconds now. And I still use it.

My Viking V-type, on the other hand, is a 56, and it takes 3 people to get it on me.

thanks for the support man. now that i look back at my goal of getting to 242, i think its kind of outlandish...i was 304 lbs when i wanted to make that, with about 2 months til the meet. its my first meet, i should go into it healthy, doing what i feel comfortable doing. my mentality from now on is to move as much weight as i can, with no concern for weight, unless my heart rate stays at 180 while im sitting down. like i said thanks for the kind words bro, i'll probably go for 275.

Good stuff lones. 275 is definitely doable, but 242 is way too much. There's no way you should have to watch your baconator intake. Just f****n' give 'er.

    Squats

    squats, wide stance, parallel:
    bar x 10
    135 x 8
    255 x 6
    305 x 6
    345 x 6
    395 x 1

didn't go any higher than this, although i could have. my back was still tight from deads and it was starting to hurt, and hard for me to get to parallel without pain.

    GM's:
    bar x 10
    135 x 6
    135 x 6
    185 x 6
    185 x 6

    leg press:
ill be honest, i dont remember how much i was doing, but i kept putting 100 plates on it for 4 sets. last set was heavy, maybe 800 or so.

    cable abs for 3 sets

    reverse hypers for 3 sets

i met this dude today who lifts in the SPF, i saw him at the meet, he's a monster @ 220. he was spotting me on squats, and telling me whether i hit parallel or not. he was pretty funny, was doing shrugs and came up to me and said "wow, someone else in this gym squats below parallel!" and started talking about a kid doing bicep curls in the squat rack. said he could probably help me with my suit when i get it. not a bad workout, did those reverse hypers, a bunch of band stretching, and foam rolling for rehab. decided to listen to my body today and not squat too heavy. oh, and i went to this new vitamin shoppe that just opened after i worked out, needless to say i got swarmed like flys on s***. i did see jessica putnam there though, for anyone who dosen't know who she is check it out:

heres a video of a few squats in the middle of my workout, just testing out the camera seeing how it looks. i had to lay it on my bag and that light makes it look bad. i can't really remember if this was 305 or 335.

yeah dude, i had to sit it on my bag...it dosen't have a string or anything for me to hang it with, im gonna make a hanger out of a coathanger i think. currently drinking chocolate met-rx with natty PB, olive oil, and oats, about to eat a few burgers in a few minutes. had a $10 off coupon for the new vitamin shoppe, got a pack of 42 met-rx's for 49 bucks.

Couldnt you just set the camera on a rack or something next to where your lifting? Oh and damn, that girl is hot. My 17 year old male instincts probably woulda told me to go over and hump her leg if she was in my gym.

i wish i could do this, but next to the power rack at my gym on the left side is nothing for at least 15 ft, and on the right side theres a shrug/DL machine. i guess i could try and wedge it on there somehow. ill figure out something.
