The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Thought I check this log out since its crazy long (I'll admitt I didn't read all of it lol), but you got great dedication man. I don't think I would do half as well as you without training partners. We've had so many come and go, its nuts. Finding good training partners is tough, the keepers are the people that try to seek out you, the dirtbags are the ones that you try to recruit. In our groups experiance anyway. Can led a horse to water, can't make it drink...

Haha, thanks a lot for the kind words dude. It is tough not having people to push me all the time. My saving grace is going to Cell Block to squat and plus I'm determined I'll be at WS in a couple of years. Makes all the time and stupid 9 sets of pulldowns worth it.

Terrible session. First time I've been frustrated at the gym in a long time, My bench isn't progressing because I've had to train it by myself the last little while. I'm not taking a stab at anyone here, but I'm going to fix things today

Hey...just saw this and know that is frustrating and sorry I have been such a mess lately.....you know what was going on with me now and I plan to be back on a regular basis....I Might have to join the rush if you want to bench heavy on saturdays or get a key card and do heavy bench on sundays....saturdays I have no one to watch Lauren. I have been thinking of both options so get with me on that. the whole childcare thing at dyna screwed me bigtime. We need to find us a big guy too or get Vikki back. what happened to that guy at school? Does he want to train?

Also, talked to Devin and he is wanting to charge lifters now for using the gym....he got a new manager and she is a real stickler for it. Seems she is running things and ruling the roost...She is making me write a business plan for my bootcamp business. I will find out what is up with that for sure. He has a few powerlifters lifting now and they are charging them....I really wish I had the money to open my own gym....it is hard to powerlift in Knoxville. Frustrated with gyms!!!!!UGh!

It would be nice and for about $5K, an unused garage and some sweat equity could be started. With 5 people it would be the equivelent of 3 years of membership at a commercial place. I tried this at my place 6-7 years or so ago and just found out that I cannot workout in my garage, I need the social interaction.

However, weights are weights and it can't really be used as an excuse, not everything can be the ideal, make do and get stronger. There are way worse off places than Knoxville to work out, attitude is 90% of it.. There are definately some gyms worse than others. Find what works and be consistent. Consistency, patience and determination are the lynch pins. I do agree with Lones (no slight intended) the biggest thing to overcome is the lack of training partners or even just competent spotters.

My gym started in a garage a long time ago. Just a buddy of mine and myself worked out in it. We had really basic stuff, but it was far and away better than training at a commercial gym.

Especially where you guys are at. It doesn't get too terribly cold in the winter so heating isn't a huge issue and a big drum fan in the summer would do the trick.

I've been thinking about building a gym in my garage for the past few months. My wife said it's all good, but she still wants to park her suv inside. So that might be a little hard to do.

Upper back is a little tender, I think it was those RDL's I did yesterday. Those seem to get my whole back when I arch really hard

    Max effort squat/dl

Quad mini rack pulls, conventional and 2 inches below knee:
    bar x 5
    *add bands*
    bands x 5
    135 x 5
    225 x 3
    245 x 2
    *belt*
    275 x 2
    295 x 1
    315 x 1
    335 x 1
    370 x 1 5 lb PR
    275 x 2
    275 x 2
    275 x 2

    KB swings:
    60 x 10
    60 x 10
    60 x 10

    Good girl machine:
    80 x 20
    90 x 20
    100 x 20

    Bad girl machine:
    80 x 20
    90 x 20
    100 x 20

    Decline situps:
    20 lb KB on chest x 10
    20 lb KB on chest x 10
    35 lb KB on chest x 10

    Standing cable abs:
    60 x 10
    80 x 10
    stack x 10

    T-bar rows:
    2 plates x 10
    2.5 plates x 10
    3 plates x 10

    Seated calves, 2 x 50

Then I sat in a whirlpool for 10 minutes. I've heard a lot of guys say it helps recovery quite a bit, so we'll see if I notice any difference. My upper back and glutes were a little stiff going in today, so it couldn't hurt.

Dropping weight I usually see an increase in my pull, so I wasn't really that surprised. I was good for more but I'll save it. Should have a video up in a little bit

Strong pulls Lones. I haven't done quad minis in a while, but my hands are flinching just watching that vid. Those always tore my hands up.

They certainly do. That good girl/bad girl machine tore my hips up even worse than the quad mini's though. I was walking like Frankenstein yesterday. Wish I had access to those more often!
