i guess i haven't really posted it in here, but my main goal right now is to get stronger. in 1-2 years i plan on going to Ohio State after a small stint at a community college here. i want to fufill my dream of being part of the Westside crew, but i have to reach a certain strength level before i get there.
i usually don't do too well NOT training for a meet, but the fact that i need to be at a certain level to train at Westside is enough fuel for my training for now. its whats on my mind every time i think about quitting, or not doing another heavy single, or missing a workout, or not stretching, or skipping a meal.
we'll see. Vik and Donna, know this, i will still write out a cycle for you guys if i don't do the meet in Feb, and i will train along with you for it. i will be at the meet as well.
LOL I get scientific about this stuff so sorry if I am boring, but exercise releases endorphins which make you feel good and help eliminate stress. Thats always a good thing.
There have certainly been times when I think that if I had not been doing something physical, I'd have been much worse off. Hopefully your stress will work out sooner rather than later
Her's a pic of Vicki duct taping Lones' briefs on before he put his deadlift suit on. I have videos uploading and will have them on here soon.
Lones in his deadlift suit!
lones before suit is on
I may have to try this roll thing you and Vicki are doing to see if I like it. Not sure though.
Made that weight look easy up there lones. Gear is definitely looking hardcore.

holy crap, you really need to get in your own garage. I thought you were in a daycare or something!
Deads look really solid though!
Looking good man - you are becoming a beast in short order...
Nice pulling man, but I really think the lavender colored walls and lame music could be holding your deadlift back. How do you like that King Sumo? Does it give a nice pop off the floor?

You want science and studies? **** you. I've got scars and blood and vomit. - Jim Wendler
i like the suit. it makes the weights feel like nothing coming off the floor. if i try and pull anything below 315 i fall backwards because i pull it so fast.
my shirt came in today. i have not had a chance to put it on, i'll try it tomorrow. it got here very quickly. i'm excited to see how benching goes sunday.
i also made a sled tonight at my buddy's house. i went to a junkyard and found an old rusty peice of steel for $6. cut it to size, and used a heat gun and a hammer to bend the front of it up, welded on a post for the plates, and welded a chain on the front for a strap. its very rusty and rugged, but its solid. the only thing i'm worried about is my awful welding job, LOL. i have never welded anything, thankfully my retnas are fine. if worst comes to worst and a weld gives i can always weld it again. i welded straight through one of the chain links, LOL. i'll pressure wash it tomorrow to try and get some of the rust off, and i will take some pictures.
my friend also had 2 old plates he let me have, so thats one less thing i have to worry about.
things are looking good...a box squat box is next...
You didn't wear a welding mask?!
Good deal on the shirt.
When breaking it in, start probably with either a 4 or 5brd given your range of motion. Do a couple sets of doubles. Nothing super crazy, maybe around 350-400. After a couple sets, go down to a 3brd and work with the same weight and hit some singles for a couple more sets. Really focus on pushing that belly up and touching as low as you are comfortable touching on the boards. Keep the elbows tucked really hard and you'll be alright. When you touch the boards, pause and then really explode hard. Hold on to the weight hard though because that shirt will really spring up
probably not the smartest idea i've ever had, but my eyes and hands are okay, LOL.
gotcha on breaking in the shirt. i will go 5 board for some doubles, and then a 3 board for singles. i will have a handoff man (in my case, its a woman) and side spotters.
i will keep my assistance the same, but with the shirt should i go ahead and move my grip out to index fingers on the rings?
Nice save. I almost was gonna have to kick some ass for calling me a man.

my 107 barbell style sled
works pretty well, i have to hit wal mart today to get groceries, so i will look for a longer dog leash...the one thats on there belongs to my dog, and its a bit short. works great as a sled strap though.

Sweet sled, man! And nice pulls the other day!
