The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

That guy that was on steroids probably was just trying to explain why he repped out 155 like nothing.

That's a popular name you have there. You've gained a lot of weight since that picture. The Tony guy has a funny name... all I can think is Tony Bologna. Parents must nota liked him.

It was the last week of circa max for the guys training for the March 28th meet. We only ran 1 monolift so I really didn't have much of a choice on what I was doing, HAHA. Too much band tension, I know. Brent told me not to worry about it and do what I can do.

I nailed the form on most of them, I can remember coming forward with one of my last ones because I was getting tired. I'm getting more comfortable in the hole.

Keith said the tension at my height is somewhere around 450 pounds. I've never felt anything like 4 blues, LOL...felt like my throat was collapsing every time at the top.

Brent went 5 plates plus tension in briefs only. I hate that old bastard, he's so stupid strong. He should be able to squat 900 at whatever his next meet is.

Form is looking good so far, these next few weeks are going to be hell. I plan on upping the cals, fish oil, and protein. I need to put an order in for another jug of RESULTS as well.

600 is mine if I keep my form.

If that Tony guy hits his second attempts, he'll bury the All Time 308 record

Impressive work Lones, I agree too much tension, but it's ok. I know how that stuff goes sometimes with everybody on one mono.

I think you're set up real well for the meet.

That's odd though that they are ending circa max this soon. We don't start until next week

Man I was hoping Tony was coming down for the December meet, he was one of the main guys I wanted to see lift. His body type is a lot like mine, I'd like to see him lift

I'd like to be as strong as him one day.

Brent does things a bit weird, I think we're doing cambered bar or the harness next week, then something else weird, then take a weight, then deload, then off.

He likes to do circa max every other week with something like the SSB/cambered bar/harness in between.

I don't ask questions, I know he knows what he's doing. Have I mentioned I've never seen him miss a squat?

Gonna be one hell of a meet. BTW, you going to the Arnold with Donnajo?

    LOL.

If it was any other time in my life, I'd go to the Arnold but my training is just too important right now. I've got a bunch of things to work on before lifting with the big boys.

    ME Bench

let me start off by saying my elbows and shoulders were pretty beat up from those squats Thursday.

    Flat bench:
    bar x a lot
    135 x 5
    185 x 3
    225 x 1
*super phenom on, add 1 board*
    315 x 1
    315 x 1
    315 x 1
    315 x 1
    *no boards*
    315 x nothing, racked it

I'm having some trouble staying tight in about the last 2 inches to my chest. I believe its a matter of just staying tight, but Travis, if you have any tips let me know. Elbows were killing me by the last one so I just racked it.

    DB floor press:
    55's x 5
    65's x 5
    75's x 5
    85's x 5
    95's x 5

    Pulldowns:
    *v bar*
    100 x 10
    140 x 10
    *straight bar*
    120 x 10
    160 x 10

    Face pulls:
    50 x 10
    70 x 10
    100 x 10

    Panora pressdowns:
    50 x 3 x 12

Had a trainer tell me to put a shirt on today, and there was a DJ at the gym blaring techno. Needless to say I need to get things started with my own gym, QUICK.

I know it's hard. It'll be easier on the Forza at the meet trust me. But in the meantime, you just have to really pull the shoulder blades tighter at the bottom. I think you'll be good at the meet though with a 315 opener.

I've had that problem at commercial gyms on their benches before as well. The Forza will really keep you tight.

I agree with Travis that the bench matters. I am pathetic at the bench press but I notice a huge difference between my bench at school and when I use a forza or EFS bench at my friend's place back home.
Oh, and great lifting today Lones!

The bench at the commercial gym I go to has one of the old forza models, but it looks like it was put together by an 8 year old...I've been wanting to take some wrenches to that thing forever

Well it's more of a padding thing. The super hard padding can cause that, or often if the bench is just a little too narrow it'll cause the same thing. I'll work with you on your setup at the meet and we'll get you set up. If you can comfortably get it to a 1brd for that many sets, I'm confident we can put it together at the meet.

From here on out, I want you to take care of those elbows. Ice ice ice and some anti inflams if necessary. Get them feeling better. Wear some elbow sleeves if you can, otherwise I sometimes just cut the forearms off of an old long sleeve thermal shirt, and pull them up over my elbows. Kinda like a thin elbow sleeve, but it'll still keep them warm. Looks old school hardcore too haha

    DE squat/dl

Speed pulls against DBL'd MM bands:
    bands x 5
    *king suit bottoms*
    175 x 3
    265 x 1
    265 x 1
    265 x 1
    365 x 1
    365 x 1
    365 x 1

Speed was good...weights were weird because I used 2 10 lb plates before I put the 45's on so I could take a wider stance, get more hips

    Squatmornings, raw:
    bar x 5
    135 x 5
    225 x 3
    275 x 3
    275 x 3

Next time I'll do these with briefs. Couldn't get...myself...adjusted on the bench, if you know what I mean

    45 degree back raises:
    BW x 10
    1 plate x 10
    1 plate x 10

    Leg curls:
    150 x 12
    180 x 12
    220 x 12

    Adductor machine, 3 x 10

    Side bends:
    60's x 10
    70's x 10
    80's x 10

Wow those are some nice lifts. One question though. Why do squat mornings if you can easily squat the weight you are using for the good morning? why not just squat and do good mornings?

I don't put that much thought into my training. They were just to switch it up and try something new. I'm not squatting out of the power rack at the commercial gym until after my next meet because it messes my form up.
