    Play Ball!!!

Well, it's that time of year again! Baseball season is here! Steroid controversy or not, I'm excited.

But whose idea was it to put Cleveland playing Chicago to open the season in a night game?!? What bettter way to usher in the new season than sitting in 40-degree weather with wind blowing?

I understand that MLB wants to open with the World Champions, but why not have them play somewhere warm if it's going to be a night game? How 'bout playing it in Anaheim or Tampa? What about Minnesota--it's cold outside, but the game is inside.

That minor rant, aside--let's go Red Sox!!

(PS: no fantasy league here at WBB?)

Thank god the hockey and basketball seasons are still going strong. I hate the over-saturation of sportscenter with baseball highlights.

This is one of the saddest sports days of the year. The end of college ball, and not much good until football season. The world cup will help ease the pain.

ah my favorite day of the year even if my pirates arent good

id like to quote earl weaver...

"You can't sit on a lead and run a few plays into the line and just kill the clock. You've got to throw the ball over the damn plate and give the other man his chance. That's why baseball is the greatest game of them all."

The world cup...I'd rather watch paint dry. But I'll agree baseball isn't that exciting. I don't mind going to the games though, much better IMHO.

Astros come through last night. Strong performance by Oswalt.....who I predict will win the NL Cy Young this season. On another note, I caught some of the Reds yesterday briefly on FSN Ohio. They looked like absolute crap. I think Dunn misplayed at least 3 flys in left.

Sox and Yankees = exciting baseball, all other teams just kinda play to kill time between Sox and Yankee games.

By "Sox", I assume you mean "White Sox". Otherwise, you are way out of line.

You're both out of line. MrWebb, any idea how much the MLB package runs for the season? I'm tempted to sign up because I always have to head to a sports bar here in the midwest to catch any Houston games.

they are advertising it this week for 159.00 for the entire season. normally 179.00 but you get a small savings by ordering now.

Guido, there is only one Sox. and they are RED.

I think by "Red", you mean "White". Don't worry. It's an honest mistake.

Astros down 0-11 right now in the 7th. Not the best outing for Pettitte.
