Thread: DE Squat Cycle

    DE Squat Cycle

    Taken from a darkside publication, I understand the idea behind it but I would like a couple of thoughts of what to couple it with my ME work. Should I be cycling my exercises the same as per normal (Ie, GM's 60-70% of the time, sqauts 20% and deads the other 10%), or should I be squatting in gear as outlined in the second table?

    DE

    Light Bands
    Week 1 47%
    Week 2 51%
    Week 3 53%

    Average Bands
    Week 4 47%
    Week 5 51%
    Week 6 53%

    Light + Average bands (I'm not whacking strongs on for this cycle)
    Week 7 47%
    Week 8 51%
    Week 9 53%

    ME Option One
    All box sqauts

    Briefs only
    Week 1
    Week 2
    Week 3

    Straps down
    Week 4
    Week 5
    Week 6

    Straps up
    Week 7
    Week 8
    Week 9

    OR ME Option Two (this seems abit more logical)

    Average Bands, Briefs only
    Week 1
    Week 2
    Week 3

    Strong Band(Or Average+Lights) , Straps down
    Week 4
    Week 5
    Week 6

    Strong+Light band (Or strong band), straps up
    Week 7
    Week 8
    Week 9

    Week 10 off, then full sqaut on week 11.

    Only use bands on DE day. It's too much work for both days. Also, use, Squats most of the time on ME day. Use Deads every 3rd or 4th week. Use GM's as an accessory exercise. A lot of things have changed since the 70, 20, 10 rule at Westside.

    Thanks for the input Matt! Any thoughts on using the gear for the ME work during this cycle? I'd like to be in the suit straps down for a good portion of it as I'm only learning it, any input is appreciated

    To be honest, I would not do ME work during a DE cycle like you have listed. With the extra band tension, DE work becomes ME work. You can choose a ME lift each week, but I would keep it in the 3-5 rep range during the band cycle.
