Protein powder is a worthwhile supplement - it is, of course, FOOD and you won't be cycling it. But indeed, one thing at a time.

What are your protein sources at the moment?

    workout

    Sqats
    1 x 10 x 45
    1 x 5 x 95
    1 x 5 x 115
    1 x 3 x 135
    5 x 3 x 155
(Wide stance. Narrow stance feels stronger, but I wanted to go wide bc thats what i saw in videos. really focused on form. good arch, stomach out, a little below parallel.)

    Hack Squats
    1 x 3 x 135
    6 x 3 x 155
(How do you do it w/o rubbing the back of your legs?)

    Leg Curls
    2 x 8 x 90 on machine

    SLDL
    6 x 3 x 185

    Standing Calf Raises
    4 x 10 Smith Machine w/ 45s

I decided to go more sets with lower reps on the main lifts. I'm really going for a lot of muscle mass. I would like to see more weight on my frame. I will worry about cutting later if i get too much fat. I felt like Chubs and Risk had good ideas. Anyone feel free to comment on this workout

thanks jaybird. maybe thats why most people doing that lift are wearing pants. i would do that but i'd rather rub my calves raw than be sweating like a pig while i'm working out

built - i agree. the DL needs to be earlier, probably be after my squats, or shoud i put an exercise between them? RDLs. i guess these are Romanian Dead Lifts?

I see no reason why you can't put the RDLs or SLDLs right after your squatting. I do the same thing during my DE days.

    u-tube comparison

    Also, RDL form

Note that for an RDL, the butt goes BAAACK, arch remains in the back, bar travels straight up and down while touching the body, knees are bent but you don't squat it down, you reach your ass back like a pivot.

Lower until you lose the arch in your back.

built - just noticed your protein comment. i'm keeping up with my fit day account like you said. i was going to do it for a week like you recommended, and then show it to yall. i'm probably going to get some nitrean like everyone else on this board too. right now, protein is coming from chicken, eggs, milk, turkey, chunky peanut butter, etc. whatever i can get. ps. thanks for the info on rdls.

ok, here's friday's session. i went home this weekend and dont have internet so i couldnt post it until now. btw, weight gain for this week was 3 lbs, so that is good.

    Shoulders
    Standing OH Press:
    1 x 10 x 45
    1 x 5 x 65
    2 x 6 x 115

    Standing Lateral Raises
    2 x 10 x 25 lbs DB

    TRIS
    Narrow Grip BP
    1 x 5 x 115
    2 x 8 x 115
    2 x 8 x 125

    BIS
    BB Curls
    2 x 8 x 75

    Hammer Curls
    1 x 8 x 25 lbs

i did a bench max to start off the workout just to have a base to build on. ended up getting 185 lbs. i was pretty excited about that. workout felt solid.
gained some good weight this week so that was good. i should be getting my protein in today or soon, so that will help. i purchased some nitrean. everyone seemed big on that. i'm concerned about taking protein tho. i dont want it to have any bad effects on my body. i'll take it for a month and we'll see how i feel. it seems good to have one max out of the way to go ahead and build off of. i'm thinking i may do either a squat or DL max come wednesday on my leg day. and do the other the next week. just so i can have something to build off of. i'll get today's session up later

Don't worry about Nitrean. It's just straight protein. Same stuff you get when you eat chicken, eggs, beef etc etc.

You seem to be very determined, eager to learn, and open to suggestions. That attitude will take you far if you stick with it. Nice start to a journal.

Oh, and I can't believe nobody did this yet, but:

chubs ok. i just dont know much about ingredients and everything. i cant disect a nutrional label and figure out whats good or bad, so its hard for me to know. i do need something tho, and hopefully this nitrean will do the job. that and lots of eating

guido thanks for the . i'll need it. i'm trying to stay motivated and on the right path without getting burned out.

    TODAY'S WORKOUT

    CHEST
    flat BB BP
    1 X 10 X 45 wu
    1 X 8 X 95 wu
    5 x 5 x 135 felt solid

    Low Incline DB Press
    1 x 8 x 40s
    1 x 7 x 45s (+5lbs)

    BACK
    Chins
    1 x 6 x BW (+1 rep)
    1 x 4 x BW (+1 rep)

    T Bar
    2 x 8 x 45

    Yates Rows
    2 x 8 x 135

    Shrugs
    1 x 10 x 135

I thought today's session went well. I took Chubs advice and went with the 5x 5 on bench. i'm going to stick to an altered WBB1 split for a while, but intend to do the 5 x 5s for my big 3 instead of a 2 x 6-8. I felt drained when i went into the gym just bc i hadnt eaten anything but a bunch of crackers and cheese all day. it was just a crappy day so far when it comes to food. had to lift between my break and couldnt eat, and i have to travel tonight, so i'm going to do my best to eat plenty on the road that is as lean as is possible. if i expect to keep gaining weight every week, i can not afford setbacks like today. must eat!!!

stump and cocoa thanks for the support guys.

ok guys, i just received some bad news, however, i do see the humor in this story. i went to the doctor today and found out i have some type of tear in my rectum. NO, i am not gay, i do not enjoy HPI (hot pork injection) up my butt. he said it was most likely from just having a really big terd. its not serious, but it will take a while to heal. i have to take a bunch of suppositories and stool softeners. i also have to keep my hole lubed everytime i take a dump. yea, its gross, but imagine how i feel. i got violated today more than i ever have. the bad news is, and i will bold this, I am not allowed to do any Squats or Deadlifts for at least 6 weeks. this really sucks. sucks hard. i'm just getting started. the good news is, i dont have to quit lifting lower completely. i can still do machines and what not, just no lifts that could possibly lead to making the tear worse. and all other lifts are a go. this is not going to slow me down completely. i plan on pressing on, but i need to let this heal. so, for around a month and a half, i will be doing no deads or squats. i hate it, but its what the doctor ordered, and bleeding out the butt isnt fun. let me know any lifts that might be possible given my injury.

Nice job on the chins, those seem to toughest when you start doing them because sometimes you can't just lower the weight, but stick with them and they'll get easier every week.

Dad said he felt the same way about being violated.

Can't believe you didn't tell me it was you, you chode. How long were you going to let me go on oblivious to the fact you had finally started a new journal. I should've picked up on it earlier. From the EyeoftheTiger to TheLion. I should've picked up on the workouts earlier. The 185BP and your CGBP set off a red flare and then the whole ass thing sealed it. You took that pic in a way that definitely doesn't look like you, so that threw me off.

Just checking out your journal Lion... a great story & attitude.. .I wish you best results with your goals.

Dang.. a torn rectum from a big turd.. OUCH!!!
I had a big turd problem when I was a young kid - 4-5 yrs old.. I still have nightmares about my mom & dad squeezing my stomach trying to get my turds out..

too bad about the squats and DLs... don't know if I would hit the machines all that hard... but lunges, even light ones, can be great to build up your legs, balance, etc...

    GL.. and heal fast...

Yea I'm thinking the Doc is probably wanting him to stay away from anything that transfers stress to the glutes, hence the whole machine thing.
