keeping veins after a contest diet

A buddy of mine has is a professional bodybuilder and he has veins in calf's. He did not have them about 6 months ago and now he does. He says it was from cutting for contest and somehow he kept those.

Does a contest diet somehow alter the way the body deposits fat? That is the only I can think of how he kept those veins even though he is in his off-season.

what she is saying is that to be a lean enough to have veins in your calf while not looking like a heroin addict and not days before a natural contest would show signs of some AS use i beleive.

He doesn't play any sports and doesn't do any cardio.
He did not have them 6 months ago and after one of his contests the veins just stayed there.

It's low bodyfat percentage. Give him another 6 months to get the body fat percentage back up and see if he still has them.

I don't think you understand. He was 8%, no veins in calf's, then went to 2%, veins in calf's now, and went back up to 8%, still has them. Now my question is this: How?

No. I understand. I've competed before. He'll retain the vascularity for a reasonable amount of time but it'll diminish.
