The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Quick leg day Q...

I'm gonna be up to the lake next weekend and will miss working my leggies. So.... I'm wondering what I should do today. I know, I know, missing a week is no biggy, but I already missed last week and I'm anal about my schedule. Should I just do some 20 rep squats, go heavy and try for a new max, or am I an idiot and it doesn't really matter...

I'd go all-out and purposely try to overtrain, since you'll be taking a week off anyway. Don't injure yourself though.

what activities will you be doing at the lake? If you're going to be hiking and stuff, I'd say to save your energy.

The weekend at the lake will involve lots of laying around on the beach, so I'm not really worried about conserving energy.

I'd say go all out on some 3-5 rep sets. You have a lot of options though so its up to you.

It's already too late, but my answer would have been:
not jack up your cortisol levels by stressing out about it.

Seriously, one workout ain't gonna make a difference.

We tend to think of Sisyphus as a tragic hero, condemned by the gods to shoulder his rock sweatily up the mountain, and again up the mountain, forever. The truth is that Sisyphus is in love with the rock. He cherishes every roughness and every ounce of it. He talks to it, sings to it. It has become the mysterious Other. He even dreams of it as he sleepwalks upward. Life is unimaginable without it, looming always above him like a huge gray moon. He doesnít realize that at any moment he is permitted to step aside, let the rock hurtle to the bottom, and go home.
