today was a tough day. Up at 8 to study for my final at 7 pm. Took a break to hit up the gym, get the blood flowing. Bagel for breakfast, coffee and an energy drink so i had no energy or real food in me. Spent 16 hours saturday and sunday moving heavy objects awell so i did a speed recovery workout. Used 65% of my 1RM

    deadlifts:
    135x5
    275x5
    275x5
    275x5
    275x5
    275x7

    BB rows:
    185x10
    155x8-10x3

    lat pulldown:
    80x8-10x3

was beat by this point from no food. studied, felt like i aced the test than devoured food. tomorrow should be better. Thursday through monday, no finals so other than studying, gym time.

felt better today. Started with front squats today. My deadlift is sticking on the initial pull, which i read somewhere was more or less your quads.

    Front Squats:
    Barx10
    135x5
    185x5
    205x5
    205x5
    205x5

Back Squats, used today as an accessory movement.
    185x5
    225x5
    225x5
    225x5

    leg press:
    4ppsx5x2

couldn't walked after this and my hams were shot. felt like a good day over all. 205x5 for front squats wasn't a PR but the number of sets was. felt good.

lol yeah i've seen all the threads about the 20 rep squat so i figured i would give it a ho. I hear positive things as long as it's worked into the routine once in a while.

Off day but i'm bored out of my mind so I went and did 30 minutes of cardio and some really light stuff for active recovery. my right should is having a variety of problems but the real source of pain seems to be my rear delt. I tried to roll it yesterday with a gatorade bottle, hurt like a bitch but felt better this morning. Not sure why this keeps happening. bench tomorrow, last time was ****ty but lets see how rest and a good diet can change that.

Stumbled across your journal and pictures, amazing transformation over the last year or so, good effort.

Keep up the good work, shifting some impressive weights.

    12/29
    bench
    135x5x2
    205x5
    205x4
    205x3
    205x5

Other things, I forget because of new years. Again my shoulder is acting up but i'm taking corrective action to try and fix the problem over the next few months.

Mattburns: thanks alot for stopping by and the generous words.

Ok so here's the deal. 12/27/08 was my first real back day of vacations. Woke up the next day extremely sore and my core felt very sore.
Went to the gym to do squats

    squats:
    135x8
    225x5x2
    135x8

Extremely painful back pump and my abodmine was shot. Called and ended up laying in bed for 2 days unable to move. My first encounter to overtraining. It ****ing blows.

Went to boston for the 29 to today and after 2 days of doing nothing but trying to eat and sitting in bed I feel 100% better. I've also had a shoulder problems my entire life. My right shoulder has had issues from swimming and sitting at a computer. I've recently been strechting the rotator cuff inorder to try to rehab. I guess this is pretty common and there were some exercise and streches to help reverse the scapular winging.

This should fix the shoulder pain and issues from bench and overhead press. Recommendation of 2 sets of 3 exercises twice per week so, ill throw them in at the end of my bench day.

thanks coke, i always mean to take a look at your journel but i always forget it's not in your sig lol.

i've been feeling pretty sick, cold wise but have still had good energy so i've been hitting it hard in the gym. today was an off day but being home from college and sort of sick, i decided to do some cardio and work the flem out of my lungs.
I feel the best i've felt all week. Been drinking alot of tea the past 3 days and still keeping up on the eatting. I haven't lost any weight being sick so that's a plus.
Tomorrow I should be 80 to 90% better if not 100%. Tea does wonders.

    cardio:
30 min low intensity on the eliptical

I did a few sets of light squats to try and help with recovery, get the blood flowing.

    squats:
    135x8x3

    front squats:
    135x5x2

    - Tomorrow, deadlifts

its a 3 day split basically bench, deadlift, squat, rest. i try and work on the weaknesses for accessory movements lol. yeah i did cardio the other day and it really helped me breath.

I normally end up doing a 5x5 or work to sets of 3 for the heavy things. I figured hard work and consistency is the key so i never really checked out any other routines.

squuuats: still sore from deadlifts yesterday but i have so much energy
    barx8x2
    135x5x2
    225x3
    265x5 yeaaaaah
    275x3 yeaaaaah
265x3 - was aiming for 5 here but i went to far forward and it was an awkward rep that took way to much energy

    calve raises:
    240x8x3

    front squats:
    185x5x2

i get the weirdest looks from people when front squating. I get weird looks from people when i back squat aswell because i use oly form.

damn good day. it's been a while since i've hit a PR in anything but the workouts feel great and i feel improvement in some way or another. whether that's form, strenght, size, it's there in some way.

    god i love this stuff.
