The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

thanks alot man and thanks for all you're support!

    squats:
    135x5x2
    225x3
275x1 - This is my normal warm up..i'm sure you've all figured that out
315x3 (alot harder than I thought)
    335x1 (pr)
    315x2

    deadlifts:
    135x5
    225x5
    315x1 (speed)
    315x2x2 (speed)

Had a test today and no caffine. I hit 335 on squat for a PR today. I was going to go for 315x5 but wasn't feeling it. This put me in the 1000 club. niiiiiice. deadlifts were done for speed and to get some blood flowing to my lower back. Test friday, hitting the gym hard again on saturday.

Thanks guy's you're always very supportive and it's great to know others are there working just as hard in something we all love.

    Bench:
    135x8x2
    205x6
    225x3
    245x2 (pr)
    225x4

    seated row:
    150x8
    140x10
    150x10

    seated military:
    135x8x3

    pullups:
    bwx8x2
    bwx7

    weighted dips:
    bw+70x8x2
    bw+70x7

    no curls today.

my shoulder was feeling off the past few days so I took it nice and easy on the warm up. My the time i hit my working sets everything felts awesome. Hit a PR on bench of 245x2. The first one flew up, the second was a grinder but I got it. I hit 225x4 after which was nice as well. Dips felt lighter than normal so good **** all around.

Awesome PR followed by the 225x4. Especially after working so hard to hit 225 x5. Sounds like things are gonna start flowing better with your bench progress.

I didn't know you have a journal (I don't check other people's journals often), but I just found out today so I'm stopping by to say hello. You're hitting nice numbers and I see a lot of PRs, too. Keep up the good work!

I hope so man, I've been so sick of bench recently so it's nice to have a breath of fresh air. I just hope everything continues to progress.

    Squats:
    Normal Warm Up:
    275x1
    315x5 (pr)
    315x5

    deadlifts: Speed work
    135x5
    225x3
    315x2
    335x2
    365x1
    385x1

Hit 315x5 today which is another PR and then decided it wasn't good enough soooo I did it again. I got kind of embarrassed while squating as I had to grunt every rep...I try not to be one of those people.

My right arm, bicept area as of lately has been kind of tender so I changed my grip today and everything still flew up. 315 and 335 were a joke. 365 flew up so I decided to try 385 which i wasn't planning on doing and it flew up faster than it ever did before and the grip felt great too. In the next few weeks ill try a 405 pull with no wraps for the first time. Now if I could just find a job!

Nice work man, 315x5 is no joke! I'm one of the people who never grunt but squatting with a max effort is another story. Don't worry about what other people think, doing whatever it takes to get your job done is helluva lot more important!

    Awesome man! Great work.

I wouldnt worry about the squatting sounds. At least you werent curling and grunting like some of the "bros" in my gym. I think grunting while squatting is perfectly acceptable. Esp with 315 on your back.

Eh they're ok, but thank you! My max deadlift last time I checked a few months back was 415 and I haven't maxed on bench in a while either. Last time I checked that it was 255.

haha yeah I hear you, i feel like i'm going to pop if i don't grunt on some of those sets. I'm working towards your 425 squat which is insane.

ha i will never be one of those guys curling and grunting. there's always this one kid there in a beater curling or something making so much noise in the gym. it's almost embarrassing just listening to him.

    Bench:
    135x8
    183x3
    235x4 (pr)
    235x3
235x4 - I tried for 5, the last rep was assisted.

    Pullups:
    bwx5x3

    standing OH bb press:
    135x5x3

    seated row:
    160x5x3

    tri pushdowns:
    100x10x2
    110x8

It was nice to hit another pr on bench, my previous best was 235x2 and it was pretty ****ty. My make over of my bench form seems to me paying off.

Decided to do a different rep scheme today for accessory movements. I did a 5x3 with heavier weight than normal. OH press milies felt good today aswell.

Squats seems to me bugging my right rotator cuff so i'm taking tomorrow off and having a nice 3 days rest then getting back into the swing of things again. Test friday so well see how things go.

Thank you all for all the support!

    Painzer, Ronny B, Coke, Keith:

thanks alot guys. I guess for 170 lbs the numbers are o.k. no where near where i want to be but that's just going to take hard work and dedication.

    Squats:
    Normal Warm up:
    315x5 atg
    335x2 (pr)
    315x2
    315x2

    deadlifts:
    315x2
    365x2

spent after todays workout. previously my 315's on squats were to parrellel and it's been bugging me for a week now so I made sure they were all ATG today. SO much harder, but it felt alot better to know they were all full squats. I still seem to be riding the pr train. Hit 335x1 for the first time a week or two back, hit it for a double today. 365 on deadlift popped up again for speed work. hopefully by the start of summer ill have a 405 deadlift without wraps and a squat working towards 405.
