    what kinds of fat to eat on a ckd?

    What fat sources should somone on a ckd eat? Im assuming peanuts, and natural peanut butter, and egg whites.

    What are some other good sources of fat that one should be eating while on a ckd diet?

    Beginning and end of no-carb period:
    flax seed oil
    cook with olive oil

    Eat only unsaturated fat at the beginning and end of no-carb period, as saturated fat may hinder establishment of ketosis and carb-up. In between, eat any kind of fat that you want, as long as you have some essential fatty acids. You can even eat some MCT oil to give you some energy. I've never tried MCT oil myself, but plan to sometime.

    During the middle of the no-carb perdiod, some good sources are:
    egg yolk
    heavy cream w/protein powder (pudding)
    ground beef
    pork rinds
