Editor's Intro
The first month of 2006 is almost over and I already see people dropping out of the gym. Shame. At least it clears more room for me.

As many of you know, I've recently switched my focus/training style to a conditioning/strength routine. I've been doing GPP for awhile and after my last Judo competition I knew I had to work on my conditioning. So I started searching for new GPP exercises, ideas, etc. I stumbled onto Crossfit and was hooked immediately. There are so many aspects of this program that I enjoy, but I could go on for days and Daniel would probably moan about me hogging the newsletter. So I'll leave you with this to enjoy. Take a look at the video and give it a shot. It's great fun. ;)

Okay, newsletter time! The articles are very interesting. The ever popular Lyle M talks about routines and body fat, Tony Gentilcore releases the second half of the very informative "You Are What You Eat" article, and Kelly Baggett seems pretty confident he can put 20lbs on your bench press in 6 weeks.

Tips and Tidbits: Iron!
Iron is an essential mineral required for energy and brain work. It is part of hemoglobin - a molecule that carries oxygen in the blood to organs, muscles, and tissue. Without sufficient iron, there is less oxygen in the blood which may cause paleness and fatigue - both symptoms of anemia. Those at risk of low iron include women (especially female athletes), those who do not eat meat, and those who skip meals.

There are two forms of iron; Heme iron and Non-Heme iron. Heme iron is more easily absorbed by the body and typical comes from animal products (liver, beef, lamb, pork, fish, chicken, etc.). Non-Heme iron doesn’t absorb as easily and is typically found in plants (grains, fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, tofu, etc.).

To ensure you get a proper amount of iron, make sure you eat foods high in Heme iron. Combining foods with iron and Vitamin C increases your body’s absorption of iron. Drinking tea or coffee with your meal may lower the absorption rate.
Journal Spotlight: Hatred
Be warned: this journal is not for the faint of heart. But it's one of the most popular on the site due to its raw, unedited, unforgiving, balls to the wall, in your face attitude.

There is a ton of information regarding different training styles, bulking & cutting diets, hell you may even learn how to sell a car. If you haven't stopped by, give it a read. Even if you don't learn anything, you'll be highly entertained.

And yes, Hatred, this is a test to see if you read the newsletter. ;)
