Editor's Intro
Hey everyone,

Yeah, another late newsletter. But cut us some slack, the holidays are fast approaching and there has been a lot going on behind the scenes!

This months articles are very cool. Maki introduces an alternative to foam rolling, MariAnne (aka Built) tells us why fat is IMPORTANT (listen to this one people!), and she also answers 3 common questions from our readers.

Now, behind the scenes ...

AtLarge Nutrition has sponsored two new athletes!!
Matt Smith is currently ranked in the top 5 in the world for superheavy weight powerlifters. The guy deadlifts 850 pounds and squats 1141 pounds. Yeah. No joke.

Kelly Bruno proves that anything is possible if you have enough drive and determination. Despite being a below-the-leg amputee, Kelly is a competitive runner, cyclist, and swimmer. And when I say competitive, I mean she's damn good. Kelly holds world records in the 200m and 800m sprints and is currently training for the 2008 Paralympics in Beijing.

AtLarge Nutrition and Westside Barbell Special Offer!

Purchase $150 worth of AtLarge products (Nitrean, Opticen, ETS, Thermocin, Creatine 500, or Multi-Plus) and get your choice of Westside's Squat or Bench Workout DVDs. That is up to $66.45 (including shipping) worth of Westside DVDs for free. Check out AtLarge Nutrition's Website for more information.

Yes, there's more.

AtLarge Nutrition is releasing a new fat burner called Nitor. Initial reviews have been clear - it packs a punch! There's already been some hot topics posted on the forums, so check it out and stay tuned for a release date!

And finally, the forum software has been upgraded to vBulletin 3.6. If you have any comments or concerns about the new functionality, please let us know!

Review: Inside-Out: The Ultimate Upper Body Warm-up DVD
Inside-Out: The Ultimate Upper Body Warm-up DVD by Mike Robertson and Bill Hartman

Introduction
If you’re like most people in the gym, you probably have (or will have) issues with your shoulders. I avoided this problem my entire life until I had a 195-pound farmer land on my shoulder awkwardly during a judo competition. Yep, it finally happened - I’m now rehabbing a shoulder impingement.

But while my injury is acute, there are many more chronic injuries and some of them aren’t even related to what you do in the gym. For instance, extending your arms for long periods of time with poor posture (typing on a computer or driving a car) could result in problems.

Inside-Out: The Ultimate Upper Body Warm-up is going to show you how to increase your mobility, correct muscle imbalances, and in the long run this will help prevent injury. Some of the drills can also be used for rehabilitation, but be sure to check with your doctor or physical therapist for details.

So let’s get started ...

Packaging
If you read my Magnificent Mobility review, you’ll notice two similarities:

First, the DVD arrives professionally labeled and packaged. Good.

Second, the DVD doesn’t have a reference chart, so I was forced to type one myself. Bad.

However, I spoke to Mike and Eric during the Magnificent Mobility review and they were working on new reference charts. I believe these are now available, but give them a shout for clarification.

Content
I really like how the DVD is structured. It’s broken into 8 sections and each section has a Rationale subsection describing why the proceeding drills are used. This came in handy when looking for drills that would suit my current injury. The terms used by Mike and Bill might be a little technical for some viewers, but learning anatomy is only going to help you in the long run. So pay attention. ;)

Each drill is described, demonstrated, and key coaching tips are displayed at the end. It would have been nice to have two angles for some of the drills, but most of them are straightforward anyway. I ran through each drill at home with nothing more than a foam roller (med ball could be subbed here) and broomstick - so there’s no excuse about lack of equipment.

Implementation & Results
This is the great part about these drills - they are easy and fun to implement. If you choose 8-10 drills it will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.

I spent an hour last night running through EVERY drill, making sure I was doing everything properly. They all felt great, but then I hit a particular drill and my shoulder just went WOW. The difference in mobility and comfort after performing that drill for about 2 minutes was unbelievable. The price tag is worth that drill alone.

I finally feel like I’m making progress with this injury, so you can be sure that these drills will play a prominent role in my warm up from here on out.

Conclusion
What else can I say - if you want strong healthy shoulders, BUY THIS DVD.

John Berardi's Corner
The 10% Factor by Dr. John Berardi

If some people eat one food not on their plan, their failure to be perfect sets in motion a psychological chain of events that leads to frustration and the inability to get right back on the plan. The all-or-nothing mentality sets in and BAM, they're back to nothing. But it doesn't have to be this way. 100% nutritional discipline is never required for optimal progress. The difference in results, between 90% adherence to your nutrition program and 100% adherence is negligible. So allow yourself the extra 10% wiggle room. This will allow you the freedom to eat a few extra things not on your menu without the guilt and subsequent crash.

This tip is sponsored by Precision Nutrition - our pick for the best nutrition and supplement resource currently available. Precision Nutrition, complete with 2 DVDs, 2 CDs, 5 manuals, and an entire cook book, is the last word on eating for optimal health, body comp and performance.
