The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    bench shirts

in competition we bench raw, and i've only ever benched raw, but i was wondering if i train in a shirt will it make my bench (raw) go up faster than w/o one? basically are there any advantages to benching in a shirt if im a raw bencher.

    id disagree to a point.
I have been training for raw, but all my workout sessions i use a loose inzer blast, the reason to prevent my shoulders from injuries, the shirt doesnt give me any gains, (maybe 5 lbs at the most) but puts the right pressure on my shoulders to help prevent injuries.
so if you have suffered from injuries id recomend one. after all this was what they were orignally designed for.
just dont get some super tight radical cut one if your only planing on competing raw.

Benching in a shirt will change your ROM or groove too much. Bench shirts were originally used to protect your shoulders and a loose might do that but its like using wrist wraps or straps. They can be used as a tool to help but using one and staying in one will only hamper what you'll be able to do. Just like board presses or rack lockouts, you might get something out of it but if you want to bench raw, stay raw.

thanx for the info, ill definitely won't wear one. O ya, another question, what can i wear that's legal but it helps my bench in competition, like I see a lot of people who wear under armor compression shirts, does it really help? should I wear one?

If you compete in raw only competitions, there's nothing that can help you. If you lift in a federation that allows shirts, let us know which one it is and we can help you find a shirt accordingly.

If you are built like Terrel Owens then by all means wear an Under Armor shirt. If not, please do not put one on.

    And no, they don't help.

that wont help you at all as far as benching goes...some people just personally like wearing them.
